My wife doesn't want to drive it and would never drive it to work herself. More due to the size of it and probably less the looks. But she don't care what I drive. If money is not an issue, just get it. Your wife doesn't have to drive it.

My wife is perfectly content with her Model Y. She's the type that doesn't care what she drives. As long as it fits the kids and can get her to places. Y is a plus since she doesnt have to get gas. Huge plus in her book. Getting gas is actually a waste of time. Yeah supercharging takes a while if you travel a lot, but imagine getting gas once every week or 2, for years. 5-10 min adds up.

I love how my wife is regarding cars. I've had Broncos, Range Rovers, Defenders and this girl could care less. Just drives her Y. I don't think she ever drove the last 2 vehicles I've owned. Hasn't driven the CT yet and probably never will.

I have to argue with the don't wrap it statement.
From many people that have wrapped them after driving them for a while the attention and perception changes. The stainless is very polarizing and gets a lot of opinions.
Wrapping it in flat black (the most common and one of the best looks) will make it blend into the rest of the traffic better and draw far less attention. This has come from many people that have done wraps.

Appearance is always a perception thing and is a tough one to get over for people. Show her pictures of it wrapped. The difference is pretty big.
I haven’t gotten a single comment about the stainless but ‘many’ about my emblem.

Since you mentioned towing, please know that no EV truck is meant for long distance towing because of the aero. Hope you set the expectations to not get disappointed with the range drop from towing. We need pull through chargers and battery powered trailers for long distance towing with EV trucks.
Thanks. I’m well aware the range will be cut at least in half when towing. I towed our previous, smaller Airstream with a first gen Model X for a couple of years. Even with the range limitation, I would have much preferred to stick with the X for towing. Much more stable and smooth than an ICE truck. Unfortunately, the X just couldn’t handle the weight of the new, larger Airstream we got, hence the RAM and now my desire to go with the Cybertruck.

My wife tolerates my CB but was really wigged out by the quite imperfect FSD 12.x versions and the egregious errors it made. I’d keep that under wraps even though 13.x is oceans better. Wouldn’t be a selling point.

Sound advice. She’s already not a fan of FSD. Doesn’t use it on her M3 and freaks out when I suddenly retake control because it took the wrong exit in my MS. So, I will definitely not tell her it’s worse in the Cybertruck. ;-)

Thanks all for the posts. Made me LOL.

Seriously considered the surprise idea but then remembered the living room couch is terribly uncomfortable for sleeping. ;-)

I’ll try and convince her to come with me for a test drive. It’s so much more comfortable to ride than the big old 2500. Maybe that’ll seal the deal…

Totally get it wrapped, get something different…everyone does flat black and it’s boring, the stainless steel does look pretty bad but once it is wrapped it looks amazing. After getting mine wrapped every time I see a non-wrapped one I think it looks cheap.

I can agree with that. Even putting some kind of stickering on it makes it look better. There are all kinds of pinstriping concepts people could do that would make a big difference in breaking up the stainless.

Have her pick out the wrap. She will like the way it looks then. My wife doesn't drive it, doesn't want to, and loves the passenger seat. We went boring...all black, dark tint, no mirrors, no aero covers with a few purple accents. It's our Batmobile...."the Blackmobile".

Welcome fellow Airstreamer! I just picked up our 27FBT Globetrotter today that we’ll be towing with our Cybertruck. Previously I towed a 22FB Bambi with our Model X.

Towing our Bambi with the CT this season was fantastic. I could easily get 180-200 miles of range.

My wife is in the same camp as yours, but she’s warming up to it. She “loves” the ride (most comfortable of any vehicle we’ve had), the space, and the visibility of driving at “truck” height. She doesn’t like all of the attention that the CT generates. We live in Tennessee and it’s still pretty rare here.

Also, if you’re interested in saving a couple thousand dollars on a new Cybertruck here’s my link: https://ts.la/neil65767

Then you won’t be disappointed. I haven’t towed yet, but I have been told that it’s a breeze to tow with CT. The sheer power and driving dynamics make it invincible!

Hey all.

Really interested in getting a Cybertruck to replace my RAM 2500, which is the two vehicle for our Airstream. I've test driven the Cybertruck and it really sold me on it. It's got truck chops but yet, it (almost) drives like my Model S. And while range will be the challenge, I'm willing to deal with it to do away with the poor handling, noise and size of an HD truck.

That said, I'm running into one little snag... My wife is absolutely opposed to the purchase. It's not about the money, the brand or EVs (we're already an EV household). No, it's really the look that's the issue for her, along with what people think of the truck.

So, owners out there. If you were in a situation similar to mine, how did you convince the significant other?

Thanks in advance for sharing pitch advice with me. ;-)
My friend, you are called to be the head of the household. Listen to input from your wife, make thoughtful considerations, and make the decision.

Same situation. So I asked for her help in how we would enhance the appearance. Color of the wrap, the decals on top of the wrap (metal foundation series badge), accessories. We agreed on every decision except the size of the metal "Cybertruck" badge on the tailgate. I wanted larger, she wanted smaller. Went with her choice and she was right.

In the end, she takes pride in the love people show for it.

Find a CT she can test drive. She will find out it drive like no truck. Does not feel big as it is.
