I have my phone as the key for my beast, but sometimes when I walk up to truck it won't allow driver door to be unlocked...other times it will, but not passenger side , should it allow both sides to unlock? also is there a way to unlock the passenger door from in the truck? thank you

Make sure you have driver door unlock mode disabled:

Older phones or phones with Bluetooth issues can cause spotty key recognition. I had an old OG pixel and it really struggled to open my model 3. Finally upgrading to a pixel 6 resolved it.

As for opening only driver door, @rudedawg78 has your back there.

To unlock from inside the truck, just tap the lock icon on the screen.

If phone is in back pocket, sometimes I have to turn slightly so my phone is pointing toward vehicle before it will recognize it.

In my model S I would turn it on to only present driver door, because I didn’t want to wear out the door handles (had to replace 3 of them) and turn it to present all, on road trips with the family. I have it unlocking all in the cyberbeast because I’m not too worried about someone jumping in to mug me. So it depends the neighborhood you live/travel in mostly, what other security systems you might conceal on you.

If you don’t activate your app for some time, the vehicle will go to sleep and disassociate the phone from the vehicle. All you have to do is open the app and it will reconnect

That can be a phone side issue where it puts the app to sleep rather than letting it use battery in the background.

Slight changes after the latest updates; you have to perform an action in order to wake the car up from sleep state.

OP, the issue happens from time to time on my M3. Something I learned over the years is to just hold the handle until the car decides it want's to join the land of the living. So, whatever the equivalent of the CT would be (I supposed hold the B pillar button?).

For the phone key to work, the phone must be heard by the vehicle for a few seconds.
For the vehicle to hear the phone, it must be relatively close, and the signal not blocked.
In addition, the direction that you approach the vehicle also makes a difference. Approaching from the driver's side, the vehicle has a much better chance of enough signal and time than the passenger's side.

And the #1 issue for most people is you. If the phone is in a purse or a back pocket, there is probably something blocking the signal.
For me, I carry in my back pocket. It's a well practiced process of, if the door doesn't open, just turn around and "present butt". Position the phone so that I'm not in-between the vehicle and the phone.

If it's raining, aside from just unlocking the door, if I carry my phone in my hand, it unlocks reliably.

If the other doors are not unlocking, there's a setting for that.
The phone can be heard on either side, but on the passenger side, it's considered a passenger phone and slightly different things are done.
