New wiper design

Mentioned to service that FSD was dry wiping often, causing scratches on the windshield. I got a new wiper blade and wiper motor (not sure why). They also said I’d be getting a new wiper arm, but it isn’t listed on the service summary. My advisor confirmed the wiper blade is an updated design.

FSD still wipes dry as soon as it’s activated, but I can definitely tell it’s much smoother and made no nails on chalkboard noise anymore.

If FSD is dry wiping a lot, then I'm going to guess that either the inside or outside of the camera bay is a little dirty. It's by far the hardest place to clean on the outside.

I saw that Tesla is starting to add cleaning of cameras to service schedule. That is new.

Service cleaned that and it’s still happening. I may try recalibrating the cameras.

There is definitely a dry wipe bug in the most recent branches of FSD. Also, I assume the engineers weren't at all satisfied with the wiper on final release and have been working hard to come up with a better design since.

Hopefully the new design is easily upgradable.

It’s possible the new arm was needed for the new design? I can take some photos for someone to compare with their own.

I’m not seeing any sticker or part number.

Mine is VIN 19xx and here are the corresponding wiper photos, post wiper motor recall replacement. no big differences I can see. the underside of my wiper assembly has the sticker 1853255-99-D . applicable link

Between streaks and using a LOT of washer fluid to clean the windshield the version I currently have is by far the most problematic feature for me on my Cybertruck. Second would be the useless rearview mirror but at least sometimes (when it isn't dirty) we have a rearview view.

Between streaks and using a LOT of washer fluid to clean the windshield the version I currently have is by far the most problematic feature for me on my Cybertruck. Second would be the useless rearview mirror but at least sometimes (when it isn't dirty) we have a rearview view.

I agree and hope it’s improved. I’ll be driving back home through snowy, salty roads Friday so I’ll report back.

I'm glad that my post from a few weeks ago saying a new wiper is coming didn't end up being a fake rumor. I'll need to get my wiper changed now, thanks for confirming availability.

Worst thing about the current wiper is when there's dirty snow covered windows, the washer fluid only cleans the window in streaks. So it's like alternating bars of clean windshield and can't see out at all windshield. I hope this is better in the new design, it's a big problem now.

It also happens with only TACC enabled. Don’t use FSD right now and I get the dry wipes as well.

2 outstanding issues I have with the truck that I'm hoping are addressed. Rock hard suspension under acceleration and wiper fluid/cleaning. Both are liveable but work terribly.
