This is a great reply. Spot on. I just told him I was sorry if I offended him and that living with that kind of hate and anger is not a good thing. I tried to just calm him down because at the end of the day he is just a human like me who happened to be in bad place.
So, major outlier or are you seeing a general level of disgust? I really don’t want to go out to somewhere like Anderson Meadow and get into a squabble.

Good grief this is exactly what I’m talking about. Southern Utah (all of Utah really) is one of my favorite playgrounds, and this is exactly the concern I’ve been having about taking the CB out into the wilderness!

This is the primary use for which I purchased it! ?

I certainly don’t want to be going out into all that beauty and having somebody ruin my day like this.

De-escalation is the exact right move, but what if he didn’t wait for you to vent his spleen? What if he just waited for you to leave and then trashed your truck? Slashed four of your tires and left you stranded?

In the summer? In Escalante? That could be way more than just a inconvenience!

It’s really disheartening to hear that you’re experiencing the exact thing that I was becoming concerned about; in the exact place that I want to be with my truck!

I cannot see driving my truck to Zion and leaving it unattended for hours/days while I hike around. ?

And this is the problem - the truck is an equal opportunity offender! You got this presumably conservative guy, but that doesn’t mean the next time it won’t be some liberal asshat.

The pool of people that would specifically target my FJ Cruiser simply just existing is near, but not zero. Let’s call that X. For the Cybertruck the threat is at least 2X!

I’ve never had to even think about something like this with any vehicle I’ve owned! ?
Yes this sucks. I also worry when I leave my truck somewhere. Such a downer that we have to worry about this.

Remember to always follow your ABC’s!

Always be carrying
Just to drive the point home further. Deploying, or even displaying a firearm In this situation is at a minimum brandishing a weapon in fight or quarrel, but most likely aggravated assault. Many people love their guns, and that’s fine, but any Judge on the criminal bench doesn’t see it that way.

Yeah and going 2 miles from your house to Lowe’s and finding a nasty-gram on your truck or a sliced tire is a whole other kettle of fish from being out in the middle of nowhere and somebody disabling your means of transportation.

Here in the Mojave desert, in most of the places that I go on your average weekend, if that happened (without help) I could literally die.

The Elon hate I can understand, I'm not his biggest fan either. What I don't get is hating a vehicle you don't own or a person you've never met because he drives a vehicle headed by a guy you don't like.

If I come out of Walmart, does that mean I hate mom and pop shops? Jeepers, it's a weird world.
Totally. I've never been a fan of Henry Ford.

I’m sure you’ve seen that plenty. Something they drive home in your average CCR class, although many places don’t require them anymore.

Me neither! But, I think the point you’re trying to make is a little weak.

Ford was never a “special government employee” [found by a federal judge to probably be inappropriately accessing government files], isn’t alive, and hasn’t been in charge of Ford since 1945.

If Elon hadn’t been at Tesla for 80 years by now, I’m sure no one would be associating him with the brand and transferring that hatred to it.

You and many others think it is okay to hate someone simply because they disagree with other's politics. Not cool.
I’ve hated for less.

BUT I do not translate my feelings into impulsive, aggressive, or violent actions. THAT would be uncool.

This was over by Zion. Major outlier. Dude was having a bad day. Little to no chance anyone disables your vehicle out on hole in the rock for example. That goes so strongly against the code out there. I wouldn’t worry about it. As you know, the old ways still apply for the most part in the backcountry. I had a rather rustic old timer camped over by Paragonah for a spell wave me down as I went by his camp. He wanted a picture. Almost all positive or at least indifferent. My concern is that, as stated above, there is a general mental health crisis in America and the CT can serve as a lightning rod. I will, and have gone into god knows where Utah and I’m not worried about it. Maybe I shouldn’t have posted the incident, he was essentially in bad client mode, but just wanted to vent. I was not a pleasant interaction.

Seriously??

I mean, you do realize this IS the problem. You and many others think it is okay to hate Elon simply because they disagree with his politics and further, by whatever convoluted reasoning, hate the vehicle his company built. Not cool.

If it wasn't for Elon, there would never have been a Cybertruck.
I didn't say I hated him, but I don't worship him like some. As a stockholder, I think a CEO should consider what his public actions do to the brand and the company. You have responsibility at that level which overrides your free speech rights.

No question he has made innovations since he bought the brand, and I own two currently. I certainly understand why folks don't like him though.

Thank God! Yes! I was losing all faith in humanity if the old ways aren’t still alive in our country, then what are we even doing!

All right thank you, Sir! ?

Maybe just a editorial note that this is super ABNORMAL!

We’re all going to the encounter crazies! We’re going to refrain from shooting them though everybody!

Difficult to have this discussion without getting into a lot of ideas not appropriate for a Cybertruck web board. The statement above, may or may not be true, depending on a host factors.

He’s a criminal defense lawyer. You’re not in a position to argue this especially not in his home turf of Utah.

People stop doing this! All opinions are not created equally.

We have to relearn that.
