Teslas current market strategy is to delay or “soak” the reservation list.
No citation provided. And again, at no point has Tesla done this. Their raised prices haven't applied to the reservation list, only new people getting in line. The base models were delayed - sometimes- but so were the performance models - usually. As were the extra row models.

Sealioning the discussion is not helpful Crissa. It’s quite clear from Tweets and statements from Elon on end 1/4 earnings that the prices will be adjusted in an upwards direction.

Your bad faith arguments are clearly an attempt to avoid and dissuade discussion of a mechanism to restrict your capacity to capitalise on your reservations or just argument for arguments sake.

At the risk of extending this conversation further, I'd like to make the obvious point that there is a difference between a reservation and an order, because these terms are being used interchangeably (or with insufficient specificity).

During the pandemic-driven shortages, Tesla raised prices on their current products to impede demand because orders were facing a backlog of months (over a year for some models!) when normally it was weeks or days. These were complete sales orders, processed through the configurator with a paint color and everything, but Tesla simply could not keep up the pace. Keeping orders on the books for protracted periods is a logistical challenge.

This is different from a reservation, which is merely a place in line. No one has "ordered" a Cybertruck yet. It is expected that demand will vastly outstrip supply when selling reservations, since supply is zero. There is no logistical problem having 1m or 10m or 100m reservations. Tesla has never raised the price of a reservation due to demand.

Taking extra profit during an aberrational spike in demand is called "gouging", and is highly frowned upon. Even the traditional dealerships, which are known for pushing the profit envelope, were ostracized for their outrageous "market adjustment" tactics when highly-anticipated models like the Mach-E and Lightning started deliveries.

Pointing out a fallacy is not sealioning the conversation, *****.

Do you even know what sealioning means?

SeaLioning is when a person continually asks for evidence of a readily available concept (which is subsequently ignored) to avoid and distract conversation from the central topic.
As soon as the extraneous chaff is put to bed the SeaLion ceases to interact on the core message of their target.

The reason for implementing a resale restriction is infinitely debatable and has been done to death. What is being vehemently avoided and obfuscated is the mechanism itself, and how it could be implement effectively and equitably.

It’s disappointing Crissa, because you usually have valuable insights to add to a conversation

This is a really valuable distinction.

Market adjustments are inherently opaque in nature and are seen to be determined by parasitic profiteers, stealerships dealerships.
A simple way to deflect this blame and accusation of gouging away from the seller is to have the market transparently determine the price in a high demand market.

I'm still not joining your cult.
I wasn’t sure, so had to ask ChatGPT whether it is possible for there to be a cult of one

Technically, it is possible for there to be a "cult of 1," meaning a person who has developed an extreme or fanatical devotion to themselves or their own beliefs, but it would not meet the traditional definition of a cult.

A cult typically involves a group of people who are led by a charismatic leader who exerts a high degree of control over their followers, often using manipulative or coercive tactics to maintain that control. A cult may also have its own unique set of beliefs or practices that set it apart from mainstream society.

In the case of a "cult of 1," there would be no group of followers, and therefore no leader exerting control over them. Rather, it would simply be an individual who is extremely devoted to themselves or their own beliefs, without necessarily engaging in any manipulative or coercive behavior.

It is worth noting, however, that extreme self-centeredness or narcissism can be a symptom of certain mental health disorders, and it may be important for individuals who exhibit these traits to seek professional help

If the in-car camera detects an unauthorized driver, then the ejection seat removes them, and FSD drives the truck back to the factory
Now this has some real potential. I assume that the ejection is linked to the vehicle computer and from there to Central Command. We'd want to review other potential candidates for ejectionability. Late on child support payments? Wrong views on the current subjects (six new designated topics per month)? Owns a gasoline-powered lawnmower?

And for running over defenseless squirrels with this behemoth?

So where's the readily available evidence that Tesla has greatly raised the prices on people in reservation queue?

Thank you for providing the perfect example of sealioning.

How about you answer or ask a question relevant to the core topic?

So it's sealioning because you won't support your assertion? Seems like you're being selective.

Why have you spent so many posts not providing this information I have stated I did not find so readily available?

Also, it seems like this is the central subject, 'what will Tesla do with presales?'

It is only "sealioning" when the questions are asked in bad faith in order to derail the conversation.

Socratic method demands that questions must be asked. You can choose to reinforce your unfounded assertions with evidence, or you can withdraw them.

Don't underestimate Tesla's management: if they realize that the Cybertruck is underpriced resulting in 2+ year of backlog, Tesla will swiftly adjust prices.
When Tesla increases prices, they increase them for new orders not existing reservations.

Increasing prices on existing reservations only sows bad-will and does not affect demand. Unless you consider the effect of large amounts of cancellations affecting demand.
