I looked it up and as long as I get the pain version no upgrades, I get it. My final cost $82,135. with tax $ 86,935 add in the tax credit and final is $ 79,435.
You need to buy it under your business name, and have tax liability, to take advantage of that $7500 tax credit.

I think Tesla missed a differentiation opportunity with the Cybertruck. They could have done something to tell the trim levels apart from each other.

A $79,990 AWD Cybertruck will look exactly the same as a $120,000 CyberBeast Foundation Series truck minus the subtle FS badging on the fenders and tailgate.
You know, not everyone thinks that way, contrary to the fake narrative that Cybertruck owners just want attention or else they would have purchased a normal looking vehicle.

I, and many others like me, purchased a Cybertruck for it's capabilities and technologies, we don't really care about badging or differentiation. Just like I bought my 2018 Performance Model 3 in the Stealth version, without the carbon fiber spoiler or bright red brakes. In fact, I might have bought a non-Performance version if I couldn't get one that didn't broadcast to everyone in sight that I have plenty of disposable income.

Some people are inexplicably driven to act like a peacock in mating season, but most are not. I suppose it makes more sense for people looking for a life partner but, even then, it could send the wrong message (depending upon what kind of partner is being sought).

Tesla has never been a fan of in-your-face differentiation to make it obvious to others on who the big spenders were. I like that. Those people have plenty of options with other marques.

Cybertruck AWD FS owner since March 2024 here... I just got my offer to configure the non-FS at 11:30pm on 1 of my 2 Hour#1 reservations, obviously, I converted another Hour#1 reservation for the FS back in December 2023, and took delivery of my current FS Cybertruck in March, and paid a total of $102,235 with Powershare included, and zero NJ state sales tax and some nominal registration fee.

My post here is strictly a mathematical analysis, I am not here to persuade you to buy or cast doubts on your decision to defer your FS order.

For the $79,990 Cybertruck available now, if I want to configure it in a way thst is similar to the FS version (minus the white decor - I personally prefer it, but I would not pay $2k to change from the tactical Grey interior to white ml), I would have to pay $95,435 including some needed assessiories and FSD and Powershare. That price also included $300 for other misc. assessiories to bring it up to the same level of a FS version.

The difference on paper is only $ 6,800 ($102,235 - $95,435).

HOWEVER, srated in 7/1/24, NJ added the additional $1,000 for newly registered EV, and starting on 10/1/24, all EV needs to pay a mew NJ stste sales tax of 3%, in this case, $2,863.50. And, if you take delivery of the same non-FS Cybertruck after 6/30/2025, the full sales tax rate of 6.625% will be applicable, and that equals to an added tax payment of $6,322.57.

Therefore, that $6,800 price difference is getting eaten up real fast.... not to mention, you won't get the lifetime premium connectivity, White Decor and the FS badging ....

And.... where is the $7,500 federal tax credit? At least I didn't find it.

Overall, I like my Cybertruck FS AWD, if I can trun back clock, I would have made the same decision.
Same here. I dont want a a CT without those extras. Especially the FSD. Well worth the extra $. I think the FS will hold value longer than NF CT's. I paid 101K and i got my moneys worth IMO.

Quick update. The issue is with selecting the wall connector as an accessory on the non foundation series page. I deselected it and the order went through. Annoying still, but at least that’s been done. Needed a new wall connector as I move in 2 weeks but I’m just gonna grab it separate now.

The demand is insane? There's 15 of them lined up here in NY. They sent me an email stating that if I don't pick it up by Saturday they were taking my deposit. That's customer service?
Thankfully, Tesla is a global company and is set to sell the Cybertruck all over North America, not just in one particular area in NY.

:p

And globally, the demand for the Cybertruck is much, much higher than you think.

This I’m going to research, thanks for the info.
To answer your original question, Tesla has always allowed FSD to be purchased after delivery on all prior vehicles. So while there is no guarantee you'd be able to on the Cybertruck (since I don't believe anyone has a CT without FSD yet), there's absolutely no reason to believe you won't be able to purchase it later.

It'll almost definitely be $8k after delivery, but you will likely have the option to subscribe instead (which is often a better value) and perhaps even buy the Supercharging and FSD bundle.

Nah they won't. If anything a FS badge means it's an early build with more issues.
The early issues have been over-blown, and the ones that do exist in high numbers are very easy to fix permanently. It's important to distinguish between an issue that can be easily corrected under warranty, and persistant issues, that can't really be fixed. My VIN #4xxx doesn't have any significant issues I can detect, and it's never been back to a Service Center since the day I picked it up.

I think the value of used Cybertruck will be largely based upon mileage, condition and whether it has popular/desired options, just like on most used vehicles. Whether it has a Foundation Series badge is unlikely to matter much, one way or the other. There is not much significance here, if it only impacts the value in a minor and indeterminate manner. In my estimatation, FS badging will have an ever so slightly positive influence, if any, once the value of FSD, Cyberwheels, and all weather mats is normalized (by comparing apples to apples).

Making purchase decisions based upon the used value of FS badging would be ridiculous, it just doesn't matter in any significant manner.

It would be more accurate to say FSD will almost certainly be $8K or more, in the future. Because the price of entry should and will rise significantly as it nears maturity. I won't address monthly subscriptions because I've never liked adding to my monthly expenses (vs just buying something outright). Many others don't have that aversion. If you go that route, just know the monthly subscription will rise too, perhaps more than many think is reasonable, once we have full autonomy. It will make your insurance cheaper if you actually use it a lot, but the net cost will still be high.

I'm in the process of ordering the non FS Cybertruck. This is my first Tesla. Any tips on which accessories I'll need or should be adding to my order? It's unclear to me if any charger at all is included or if we need to actually be ordering the universal 240 volt wall charger.

Tips?
I think every Cybertruck owner should have a 240V charging solution at home, ideally a Wall Connector. There is no cost savings by including it with your new vehicle purchase because it has the same price and free shipping in the Tesla store, before or after your vehicle purchase.

The only vehicle-specific Cybertruck accessory I couldn't live without are the All-Weather Mats. And those can be ordered in the Tesla shop, at the same price, subject to availability. FSD can be ordered after purchase too, if one is unsure.

All the options that can't be easily changed or added after the purchase are already included. If you are accustomed to buying legacy trucks new, then you know why that is such a great value. Tesla sets prices and options their vehicles in a more straighforward manner. The pricing and marketing of legacy vehicles are far more misleading, with more "gotcha's" along the way.

I know it feels like it should be more stressful to configure and buy a new vehicle, but Tesla has just made the process a lot easier and more fool-proof due to the simplicity of the configurations (and the ability to add FSD after-the-fact). Get the tires and interior color you want and don't stress too much! Just know that the pricing of FSD or the truck itself can change at any time. FSD will likely only go up, the price of the truck will likely only go down, over time. But either could go up or down. You can't do anything about that, beyond buying it when it makes sense to you.

Even knowing the truck will almost certainly get somewhat cheaper over the years, I think the current value offered, particularly in the Dual Motor at $79,990 plus tax, license and delivery fee, is very compelling right now. The FSD is the hardest decision for those on tighter budgets, mostly for the reason that it is likely to go up in price, if you wait too long.

Even the wheels/tires can be changed after the fact for the $3500 difference in configuration prices. Get what you want, or what you can afford. The interior color is a personal preference, but I do think the grey is the more practical choice, not for ease of keeping clean (either are easy), but for the lower reflections when the sun hits it.

The FS is still available for people who never had a reservation and wanted to have a Cybertruck right away. The guy who picks up the FS just before the non-FS is shipped definitely belongs to this group. He would have to wait months, or more than one year, to get a non-FS truck.
That's not really true.

I have two remaining reservations, one was with FSD, one was without. The one without FSD allows me to take expedited delivery on a non-Foundation Series and the one with FSD only allows a Foundation Series order.

At least that's my conclusion after spending 20 minutes flipping between the available options configuring the two reservations in my account.

The other odd thing is the slightly lower estimated ranges of the non-Foundation options, either Dual Motor or Cyberbeast, AT tires or AS tires. No matter what options are selected, comparable configurations show a lower range when they are not Foundation Series. If Tesla had re-estimated the range of the Cybertruck, it would seem the range of the Foundation Series would reflect that too.

Now I'm seeing Silverado EV RST's for sale at $85k. In other words, for $5k more I can get 100 miles of extra range, and a more spacious truck. I've got three kids, so I can easily squeeze the three car seats in the SER, whereas it would be a squeeze in the CT.
Sure, buy what you think fits your wants/desires/needs the best. Buy what offers the best value to you!

But I have to question anyone who thinks the Silverado is comparable to a Cybertruck. I question whether they understand what is underneath the covers. Including the covers themselves. The Cybertruck is an entirely different vehicle in terms of handling, suspension, off-road capability, nimbleness, safety, quality of electronics and software, cooling system capabilities and efficiency, durability and resistance to damage. They are not even similar vehicles, at all. And never forget how much software can affect your ownership experience in modern vehicles. Sub-optimal software can really color the entire experience. So can charger availability. Range? Not so much. Even if you take regular road trips. Available charging options matter much more than more highway range.

If I had three kids small enough to need car seats, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the vehicle engineered in a superior manner, even if I had to buy more euro-based child seats that fit easier. The Cybertruck is plenty roomy for three reasonably designed car seats and just walks away from the Silverado in practically every way and in an outsized manner.

I see you live in Central Texas. Did you know the cooling system on the Silverado causes the DCFC rate to go from 140 kW to 40 kW if you run the air conditioning while DCFCing? Check it out. This is one example of many where the Cybertruck is simply better engineered. The differences are stark and that's not hyperbole.

Fair statement, but coming from a Lightning, the RST is still a leap forward. I'm active on multiple truck EV forums. I'm quick to say that I'm trying to force the CT to work, but the pragmatic side of me says I'd have an easier time for my specific use case in the 400+ range vehicle.

I love the CT because I'm also a sports car guy, and the CT is definitely sportier. Everything you mentioned is a plus. Especially the tech which is a huge sales point for me. However, after living with an extended range Lightning for 10 months and 21k miles, I don't expect my range experience to improve much with the CT and that's a major concern in my use case.

That said I made the LER work, and there are some improvements with the CT on range/efficiency, so it's still in the running. Especially if winter range impact is mitigated on the CT, LER losses were brutal.

I was surprised to get the Non FS email today. I'm way down the reservation list (RN1129XXXXX), reserved on 11/23/2019 (evening). My Garage is just getting Framed over the next 2 weeks. Emotions are tougher than I expected.

I too would like to get the tax credit. But the lack of official comment from Tesla is not a promising sign. My suspicion is that the Cathodes make it not eligible. and if they will change that in 2025, they know that then many would wait. And they really want to hit that 515k Q4 number of vehicles. So, be vague enough that not only will more order now, but that we'll order with upgrades too.
Tesla is not saying the Cybertruck is eligible for the $7500 consumer tax credit because it's not eligible. That's not being vague, it's simply not emphasizing the negative. When a car is eligible, Tesla will tell you, and you would still need to verify that you are eligible. Tesla will tell you to do that also.

Banking that the Cybertruck will become eligible in 2025 is also banking that the credits will still be available at all. For reasons I've already explained, I think the credits are more likely to go away in 2025 than remain.

This thread is funny. Car company’s have done this for a million years. Get the ā€œLimited editionā€ pay a little extra and the chance it might hold value more or hey maybe you just want that and can afford it! None of us know. The FS might hold better value it might not. But IMO if you ever bought a New car thinking you were going to get your money back or make money on it you’re probably not doing very well with that! It’s a bad investment.
as far as the ā€œI’m waiting because I thought I was getting the tax credit that was never promised in the first place . So you been wanting this crazy different looking truck for 5 years and were going to pay 100k but got your invite finally and because you won’t get the $ 7,500 tax credit you’re canceling or waiting longer? šŸ˜† maybe the truck was a bit to much for ya in the first place then? But ok šŸ‘šŸ½ you do you.
Got my FS a few months ago. I Like it more every day, If I over paid for a ā€œbadgeā€ as I’m reading but already have my truck it’s fine with me. I’m happy
