Not Good. New Powertrain Problems - Out of Spec.

Well, ~1700 miles in, I was receiving power limited / drive motor disabled warnings the past month and a half. Decided to take it into service to try to get it looked out before any major issues and they decided to replace the rear drive unit. Repair notes indicated irrational bus voltage sensor on the drive inverter.

Surprised it was still happening on a September '24 build FS CyberTruck so it doesn't seem like the issue is really fully resolved.

Ughh. Rough week for CT on YouTube. Didn’t wanna start a whole new thread for this but Kyle managed to kill his truck completely driving around with only the front motor and now he wants Tesla to buy it back.

Why keep using it as your daily driver when it’s already experiencing a major system fault?

That was my thought as well. I watched the last video, and when I saw this one pop up I was like "Well no shit, why are you still driving it broken?" Owners of vehicles are responsible for mitigating damage even if it's a warranty item. Kyle has access to other transportation, but he wanted to see how far he could get on limp mode i guess? Only a youtuber who gets paid for these exact shenanigans would choose this option.

At what miles did you start getting the error? I have a Sep build also.

~1100 to 1200 miles or so. I drove a loaner CT and my friend's CT is a September build as well with no issues so far.

I don't think the AWD people on here understand what we are talking about. Going from a Lightning to a Beast and I said the ride quality is much less comfortable, everyone on here said I was insane. I love the truck, but you're right, when it feels like I'm hitting a wall when I go over a small bump it is embarrassing. I am glad he also mentioned the noise, there are times the Beast really screams at you in a high pitched shriek.

I didn't realize how much different the Beast was compared to the AWD, until he put everything I experience into words in this video.

I'd originally ordered a Cyberbeast but switched to the AWD because I didn't want to wait longer for delivery. Now hearing the beast has FWD bias vs RWD bias in the AWD, I'm so glad I made the decision I did. I've owned both FWD bias (Acura MDX) and RWD bias (BMW X5, X5M, X6M) AWD vehicles and I detest the feeling of FWD bias vehicles when accelerating w/ limited traction or accelerating from a stop while turning. The front wheel skip from the traction control intervention drives me crazy.

One thing to note, Kyle's CT is like #123 or something produced... It is one of the earliest vehicles on the road.

I have experienced this in front wheel drive cars before so I am familiar with the concept, but I'm wondering if there was some resolution the rolled in at some point to reduce this effect. Maybe the folks who are experiencing this can sound of with their SN range?

I also had my inverter fail in the same way that Kyle did at about 2000 miles. No pyro blown, but I drove it to the service center the second it happened.

I thought my CB would be my last rig, but, there’s a number of compromises - not the least of which is my concern of taking it into the wilderness and leaving it unattended - that have made me have to rethink that.

It’s never going anywhere (it’ll be in my garage when I die); but, right now, I’m strongly considering getting a Scout for my over-landing adventures. Because of the extended range and peace of mind that it won’t be molested when left unattended.

UPDATE: In fact, I just reserved my Scout Traveler right now! I think it’s going to be the right choice.

FWIW, I've left my Beast unattended in the Idaho backcountry many times without anyone messing with it. I've seen a few folks stop to check it out and take photos. But, It's been left at a trailhead for a week without harm here.

what is your SN Range? I wonder if the fact I roll in a custom drive setting with Beast acceleration and higher suspension height changes the amount of this I fell. My daily setting on Custom is: Beast, Higher (~10"), Focussed. I do this because I fell the truck handles a little better at the slightly higher (and stiffer) setting.

…25XXX. I am always in Beast Mode unless towing.

I like my CB better than my Lightning in most regards, but quietness and ride comfort on the Lightning blow away the CB by a wide margin. Maybe the AWD is different, but the CB trim is loud and can be a jarring ride.

I’ve never noticed this on my non-FS AWD- always smooth and dead quiet. The only ‘BOOM’ ? is the 15 speaker and 2x100” subwoofers while blasting “Mr Navigator” mix.
