In 90 in high school I had Thule surf racks on my VW schiraco I used every day for 2 years ? They had built in Ratchet straps, I
Used about 1k truck racks with hooks on them but nope not that style, possibly why I asked about them not having hooks ??
I didn’t want to post something on how to do a tie down with these if you knew… basically there either adapters you can mount on to the racks for whatever specific item you want to mount or you use a kind of loop tie off method with your straps. You can also buy tie down kits that have the loops that fit in the tracks of the bars. https://ramotorsports.ca/cdn/shop/products/DSC04618_1800x1800.jpg?v=1664492990

Ok now that’s exactly would I was talking about they should have and I guess they do..
Yeah with out those I just would find my self doing figure 8s on the edges so the tie down didn’t slide down the rack.

This is a general way to tie things without loops.
It’s a canoe with non-ratchet but the logic is basically the same for most items. Start around 2:20 in the video. I do it for trees, boards, kayaks, canoes, etc.

Well, I haven’t actually tried to “remove” them fully, but, yes!

After you install the quick release plates, basically, you use the key to unlock and then the end cap tilts out slightly - this motion disengages a little metal tab that when vertical locks the crossbar into the mounting plate. It’s like a tongue/tab and slot situation.

So, doing that on both sides - unlock, tilt-out disconnects the crossbar and allows you to move it to any other mounting point where you’ve already installed the mounting plates.

Once you remove it, yes, the little covers just tilt back down. While the crossbars are installed those covers are flipped up vertically, not removed.

It’s definitely the simplest OEM crossbar situation I’ve ever used. I like it a lot.
Rivian's was definitely better. Just click into place and call it a day. Nothing to install or torque down. can be locked or installed in any of the 4 locations on the truck.

BTW, once you torque the mounting plates on the CT you are basically doing the same thing that Rivian does so I'm good with that. I just need the crossbars to be easily removable since I only use them with Ski racks and want them off of the truck when not carrying ski's. I have the Bouge RV Ski racks I plan on mounting. I'll post pics of the setup when done.

I’d like to see what Thule comes up with. Seems to me the rear bars should be adjustable. Bring the height up at the back so roof boxes, lumber, etc can sit flat for aero and safety.

? that’s what I want and I will upgrade to whoever does that right. This is fine for now but the idea that you would drive around with a rooftop box raked at that angle is preposterous!

I approve!

A great looking OEM accessory that hopefully doesn't whistle driving down the road.
I'm hoping the same-that it doesn't whistle! I'm still waiting for mine to be shipped.

I’ll admit; I’ve been a pretty good boy this year, so, I’m not surprised that UPS[anta] arrived a day early with my new toys!

I think they look fantastic! You can judge for yourself.

Thanks for sharing these pics! I was debating whether to place them up top like you did or lower similar to the Non-Foundation Series CTs. Your pics have definitely helped with my decision.

I need an easily removable rack on the front of my CT that’s level with the Tesla roof rack. Anybody ever seen one that mounts onto tow hooks?

Keep us posted on the noise of these when going over 70 mph. I've got some aftermarket ones installed, and they are fairly noisy when I get up to speed.

Got mine installed yesterday. Easy to install but they do whistle slightly. I'm always blasting the stereo anyhow, so it doesn't bother me. I think they look great! Very beefy.

Yeah, first time getting some real high speeds today and coupled with some moderate wind, there’s a little bit more noise than without not very noticeable IMO.
