The CT is my first electric vehicle. So I’m new to the charging rates and how to get the best prices on charging.

I recently had the Universal Wall charger installed. I noticed that the OFF PEAK hours for my home are at .36 / kWh which seems high considering that the supercharger a few miles away is .41 /kWh
Basically, a .04 /kWh difference. If I do the math, a charge from 0-100% would cost me less than $5 more to use the supercharger compared to charging at home OFF PEAK.
Am I seeing this correctly?

If I am understanding this correctly, where can I find additional saving outside of getting solar installed at my home?
Thanks for reading, and any input!

Destination chargers are awesome, business put them in and open them to customers. I like to choose restaurants that have them, go there plug in and have dinner maybe a glass of wine. Get back to the car and got some charge out the deal too.

For cheaper, that depends on what your rates are at your power company. In FL residential rates with FPL ( Florida power & light) is .12 kWh. The superchargers are .39. The Tallahassee superchargers are .37. If I’m not mistaken, some areas have discounted super charging based on time / on off peak

Another benefit is FPL offers a program called FPL EVloution. Pay simply a monthly subscription 38$, and have unlimited home off peak charging no cost. Perhaps your area has a similar program.

Lastly, smooth talk your work place in installing a charger, company’s get to write off their power bill and you get to leave work with a full charge.

Man that’s painful to see. Getting $0.16 per kWh here in Chicago. Never bother with superchargers here. Maybe check with your provider to see if your off peak are correct because that seems high.

I hate to be "that guy", but I charge at home during 'super off-peak' at $0.03 per kWh.

I don't hate, but I will be the guy that pays nothing. Solar for the truck, and unlimited supercharging on the other one. No grid.

Looks like SDGE (if this is the correct one) has some EV plans making charging at night cheaper but a lot higher elec cost during peak hours. I have this type of plan in Missouri I schedule the Tesla's to charge only during off peak nand I make sure my peak time use is as little as possible by heating/cooling the house just prior to peak time and not using high power electrical devices during that time.

https://www.sdge.com/residential/pricing-plans/about-our-pricing-plans/electric-vehicle-plans#DRP3

I don't see any rate plans for SDGE with $.83 /kwh. Check your bill and see what it says. The installer could have set the rates wrong.

Welcome to California. PG&E is also .35 off peak. The California Public Utility Commission has been captured by the utilities and we pay for it.

There might be one upside. If you are on solar NEM2 you can sell power from the truck to the utility during peak hours and make as much as .30 per kWh. Helps defray the cost of an expensive truck. You probably don't want to sell more than 50-55% of the battery capacity - so maybe 60 kWh which would generate about $6k a year (with Tesla's 11.5 kW offloading 5 hours a day 365 days a year).

My son just moved near Carlsbad and finds it cheaper to hit a supercharger than to charge at home. Crazy expensive there. I will have him call about an EV plan. THANK YOU!

DTE in Michigan has me at 13 cents from 11pm to 7am. This is on the dynamic peak pricing rate. My local supercharger low rate is 27 cents 12-4am and peak is 41 cents.
