I originally ordered a dual motor Cybertruck 51 weeks ago. To hedge my bets I ordered a second Cybertruck today, without the opportunity to spec my configuration if Tesla moved orders of single and dual motor trucks back on the assembly line to concentrate on tri, quad, and Plaid motor versions.

In comparing the RN numbers of my original order to my new order, there is a difference in 122,256...and this points out the fallacy of predicting a delivery date based on RN number. I just know more than 122 thousand have been ordered since my original order!

I was talking to someone at TeslaCon who ordered their CT as soon as it became available on launch day. They're #86 in line.

The email confirmation was delayed, so they reserved a second one a few minutes later. That one is #30,000 in line.

I originally ordered a dual motor Cybertruck about 10 months ago. To hedge my bets I ordered a second Cybertruck today, without the opportunity to spec my configuration. This would be if Tesla moved orders of single and dual motor trucks back on the assembly line to concentrate on tri, quad, and Plaid motor versions.

How do you know that? That would assume that there is reason to believe that the reservation tracker is a viable tool based on viable data. The only thing it tracks is what you put into it. Maybe you mistyped a digit. I am not questioning you or anyone here but I do not have any faith in the so-called reservation tracker.

Wow, that's crazy. How do they accept and pump out 30,000 reservation numbers in a matter of minutes. I thought it was strange that when I reserved mine less than an hour after they started taking reservations, I ended up around 39,000. This makes me wonder if Tesla was playing with numbers, and that I'm actually closer to the front of the line.

No I cut and pasted the RN numbers from my confirmation e-mails into a spreadsheet that did the math for me.

I got a second reservation too, quite a bit after the first one, but well before they removed pricing from the page. I wonder what percentage of Cybertruck reservations are second or third reservations.

My first was a month after reveal. (When I heard about it. )
My second was just before FSD went from $8k to $10k.

So 122,000 in a year... clearly we cannot go by that spreadsheet...

I ordered first in July 2020. And the second in August 2021... Close enough to a year.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but orders start from 112744100 ?

1st - July 2020, order was for Duel (later upgraded to Tri, but my number is unchanged)
113733752 less 112744100 = 989,652 in line

2nd - August 2021 , order was for Tri
115302219 less 112744100 = 2,558,119 in line

As you can see, 2.5 million orders as of Aug 21.

Amazing if true

I think I ordered 10-15 minutes in. I'm about #27,000.
But to the original poster the crush of orders were earlier on. The number of orders in the last year being that low isn't surprising given delivery may be 5-8 years out.

Like I said, I ordered that night, after the price was dropped. I'm ~#56K.

And we believe the RNs are re-used in some way. So if orders were canceled, or the server that was assigned a batch gave them back... So the RNs aren't straight up in order. But we knew that.

Parallel servers, cached request, regional echos.

Really no different in mechanics than how Netflix lets everyone stream at the same time.

It would be cool if for every 95 CT's that rolled off of the line that they went to FIFO orders and then the next 5 went to any reservation in the line randomly. Rinse and repeat. That would at least give some folks some hope, LOL. They would feel like they got a Wonka golden ticket. :)
