There are a couple features - one in particular - that I think if Tesla added via OTA would have a noticeable impact on sales.

1) Dumb Summon with independent front/rear steering control. IMO, this is a killer app that would turn lots of potential buyers to CT. Can be used off road to "self-spot" your way through difficult terrain. Would also be very useful backing a trailer into a tight spot or squeezing into and out of a tight parking space.
2) Connect to and allow viewing accessory external WIFI CAM on screen
3) Along with #2 allow user configuration of the "Smart Cam" button. Right now I never use it since I am always using the Camera App. Would be nice to be able to configure it to do something useful (like toggle between camera App and Map).
there are probably more but these are a couple that could greatly increase the trucks utility with no additional hardware. #1 in particular. Any others? (software-only killer CT apps?)

Great idea, I think they are working hard on bringing summon to the CT, the model just isn't quite ready yet (needs a very high safety score before they deploy stuff like this). Backing the trailer would be especially nice. The truck would have to crawl in super slow motion though lol.

I don't have anything concrete to back this up, but I think we will eventually see the UI change, where the rear repeaters and main rear camera will be combined into one solid bar across the top of the screen that gives you ~180 (or more) permanant view as your digital camera. I would also bet that some sort of wired and/or wireless camera module package is coming to the Tesla Semi, and hopefully that tech will trickle down to us. I wouldn't expect to see it until at least Cybertruck v 1.5 though.

3) Along with #2 allow user configuration of the "Smart Cam" button. Right now I never use it since I am always using the Camera App. Would be nice to be able to configure it to do something useful (like toggle between camera App and Map).

Agreed. I can't wait to see the next major UI improvement. Also, I think digital cameras are what is holding up the roadster. Tesla refuses to put physical mirrors on it (100% correct decision), but I'm sure they are in a major fight with regulators who are dragging their feet (as is tradition) on the matter.

Love the idea of independent front/rear steering control, or, just settings for normal, crab walk, or front only. I've been in tight parking situations where I wish I had that.

I think if you want to help sales, maybe get BANISH working!! I mean come on!! Who wouldn't want to pull up in front of Costco, get out and send your vehicle off, BY ITSELF, to find a parking spot!!

Then, when you're done, use A.S.S. to bring it to the front so you can load up!

Would REALLY be great in the rain!! No more wet grocery bags!! (hate they don't give you plastic ones anymore - paper doesn't do well in wet)

Hey, I know... How about including a removable 'cart' type thing that could fit in the Frunk... You could just pull it out, drop the wheels down and you've got a grocery cart!! Someone needs to make that!!

Agreed! No doubt, those are killer apps and would sell some trucks. None-the-less, I think dumb-summon (on steroids) could be done easily *now* if they chose to. And I agree with some of the other posts, not everyone needs it but I think there are plenty of folks out there who have been in situations where this would have been extremely useful. Pulling stumps, crossing a dodgy washed-out road without putting your life at risk.

I already own the CT but a long time ago, before the unveiling, Elon asked for some feature ideas for the pickup truck (it was not called 'cyber' yet).

I suggested that very feature and like you I still think it's very relevant and would contribute, with other things, to set it apart:

The easiest way to increased sales is lower prices. Many of us reserved Cybertrucks when the pricing was 60% lower. Over 2M reservations, only a small fraction of which converted to sales. It may not be possible to do but it is what it is. Given how great the Cybertruck is, if Elon would stop any rhetoric that isn’t Tesla, Starlink, PowerWall, Megapack, Boring Co, Optimus, or Neuralink related, in time sales would increase again. The world has shown that it loves Tesla vehicles, and it has shown that it doesn’t like what Elon says/does politically.

Maybe an OTA update to change the radical looks, give in a solid diesel engine, and get rid of glue holding it together? Ha, j/k, but really I think they've hit MOST of their addressable market that would consider the CT due to either brand favoritism, looks, or those not wanting an EV. It's not going to be a high volume truck ever like stated, nothing like an F150 that pops of the line every 30 seconds.

That doesn't explain the very high level of pre-orders after most of the specs and the look were known. The major differences between now and then is the price hike and the missed range target on the beast. It is conceivable that most are only price sensitive, I was a low 6000's reservation holder and I waited a little for the price to go down before purchasing and I was not super happy about it either but I had waited as much as I could to purchase a replacement for my old 20+ yo Duramax pickup.

A bit, back then everyone was dropping $100 on a reservation just in case it seemed or to potentially flip it for a profit. Heck, I made like $100K profit on my Hummer SUT as got #300 or so. Tesla was different back then as well, THE EV company which now competition is out quite a bit and exceeding their range or capabilities in some areas. I'm sure a lot of folks went for more traditional looks that were in the EV truck market - over to Rivian if not the SIlverado/Hummer/Lightning.

Either way, things have settled down. It isn't going to ever sell as a high volume truck for now or the foreseeable future. They don't have a history of major redesigns very quick as well which is odd for such a cash rich company.

Back to OP, I do think they could play up the power back up capabilities a bit more or make easier for folks to use it. Existing powerwall/Tesla customers can't use PowerShare yet which stinks so that OTA update for CT/PowerWalls will finally be a good add. An OTA update to to use AA/Carplay somehow could make some folks cross the line to buy

I agree agree and disagree. While MOST of the market for the current capabilities may have been reached, I really think that this feature (I am going to call it SOS: Summons on Steroids) could be a game changer. Obviously folks who buy a truck for looks or to shore up their masculinsecurity is not going to be particularly interested but there are so many cases this can be a lifesaver. Some cases, literally. Once people see it in action, it will be a must-have feature for the practical buyers and I think there are a lot of them (objective, practical buyers) out there.

These are my primary use case scenarios. I feel attacked!

Just curious about the 'crossing' part... I am assuming you mean a road that is 'flooded' still?

If so, and you 'send' the truck over, how do YOU get over to it? Or do you have it turn around and come back and pick you up?

I was actually thinking about those washed out, unmaintained roads along steep hills/cliffs.
