It was a pretty windy day when they tested. Constant was ~15-20, but more than that 40-45 mph gusts on top of the cold. Which isn't that unusual in this area during this time of the year. I drove around that day for hours (had to go down where they started in Wellington and then up to Laramie) and took a pretty substantial hit in my CT compared to my normal. Mine was actually more than -15% from my normal, but I dealt with a lot more elevation and was colder so it isn't apples to apples.
Ahhh yes, wind can affect range of ANY vehicle just like steep hills would as well. No wonder your CT took such a hit. I remember, when I drove big rigs, how a 15-20 mph head wind would SEVERELY reduce mileage.
