Of course day 1 of picking up the CT the overhead gear selector falls off. I can put it back up but the two pressure trim clips are too weak to keep it in place during acceleration or over big bumps.

Does anyone know a solution for this or how tesla has been fixing this? They can't get my truck into service for 20 days.

For what it's worth in very happy with the build quality of the rest of the truck. And I love the truck overall.

According to other posts on the forum - and there doesn't seem to be just one that's had this fixed - the header panels are snapped in slightly off, and hence, pushing on each other and making it not stay.

The Service Centers have been able to deal with this apparently quickly by reseating all the header panels as needed.

Did it occur under the first 100 miles? I’m sure service will fix it regardless but the 100 miles is your “demo” period to call out everything.
The 100 mile thingy is more fit and finish cosmetics.

This is covered by normal warranty.

Well, my was one of the "fixed" overhead control consoles. After I got it from service, I pulled and pulled on the console really damn hard - it did not budge. I was really really convinced it got fixed for real. That was over a month ago. Yesterday at lunch I found the overhead control console hanging again.

I think it's the mounting bracket becoming pliable in hot conditions and allowing the mounting holes to ever so slightly flex out which, in turn, lets holding clips to eventually slip out.

My console is still holding in place much stronger than before service, but evidently more permanent fix is needed. I'm of the opinion that to fix it permanently, the white clips needs to be redesigned to have much sharper "holding" edge (red) and more outward spring force (blue)

They might also need to reinforce the mounting frame with some sort of add on bracket so it does not flare out. Here is a pic from the service manual and yellow indicates how mine bracket deformed just slightly:

This sounds spot on. Thank you. It happens more frequently after the interior has heated up in the sun. Sounds like this isn't really a DIY fix.

Just get some silicon adhesive like I show below. Its not permanent and you/Tesla can pull it off if they need to get in there.

Thanks for the pics. I thought there were several small clips. After it comes off, there are lots of clicking sounds when pressing up in a few different places.

Mine tends to come off when I use the sun visors. It's too bad the magnets are not part of the base with the console assembly going around it. When the visors are used, it wiggles the console assembly around, which I think loosens the clips.

Over 90 days and still loving this crazy truck! Overhead backup shifter assembly has been a consistent issue. With the weight of two sun visors and the hot CA weather, this was an issue the SC couldn’t even fix with “3M Double side tape” ? The guys at SC are great and we all agreed it’s a learning process for everyone. Just came back from the SC and it’s 76 degrees, sunny, and the assembly popped out again less than 1 mile away from the SC. ? Seriously considering super glue at this point. ?

I was able to fix this myself. I filed off just a tad of the white clips where they grip to the frame to make gripping plane angle sharper. Then installed small rubber stuff under the base of each white clip to make them always wanted to expand. These 2 mods cased clips to grip stronger - has been holding strong for couple of months now
?
Kind of pathetic for a 100k vehicle. But mine seem pretty solid in place. I tried to wiggle it see if it get loose but it didn't move a bit.
