We are neighbors?. It has been raining pretty hard. IMHO that degree of leakage qualifies the vault cover as water resistant. I still would not store sensitive electronics in the closed bed during a heavy rain but at least the cover gives substantial shelter from rain. Just hope that continues at 6 months and beyond.
Is there any rubber gasket material or is this all metal flashing and detailing?

Yeah I don't think we will have to worry about water getting in here, especially with the tonneau cover closed.

It seems well made to divert water, which probably flows under the truck.

It would take a lot of water to overload the drain system and leak into that area.

They were trying to see how much of it went through the cover system and onto the ground and how much went into the vault.
Spoiler, ALL of it went into the vault :)
Rain might not pile up as much and obviously rain is not easy to wipe off, hence the question.
We already saw what rain would do in the our cyber life video

It has been raining for 2 days in socal, and I opened the bed cover multiple times in the rain just to show people the truck. I noticed that the bed is very water resistant and way better than my F150 with the retrax. I took the picture this morning, most of the water marks are from kids step on the bed last night. The water usually leaks from both sides, but I found the leakage is very minimal.

That’s not bad at all. I was driving around San Diego in a Rivian R1T yesterday in a mix of normal city and highway driving and averaged 555Wh/mile.

I just came back from big bear lake. The temperature there today was around 36f with some rain and snow. Tesla trip does not tell me the average speed, but I was driving around 80mph on the freeway both directions and around 30-40 going up to the mountain and 10-20 coming down (a lot of traffics).
Also when I was packing for the kids I found that for small load, you don’t actually need a truck bed divider because the under bed storage cover has very strong hydraulic rods that keep the cover open and the bed cover close perfectly when the under bed storage cover is open. Things will not rolling around if they can fit in there.
The storage compartments on 4 doors are big as well. They fit my 40oz hydro flask without any problem.

do you have any cool pics of the truck up at Big Bear?
I have a friend who lives up there, I want to send them to him.

Thanks for that. We always seem to have more big water bottles in my truck that places to put them. Have been eager to see the storage in the door. Looks great. You said all four doors have that?

Wow 95 on it. FRESH!
468 is really good compared to some other reports.
That would give about 211 miles on an 80% pack usage or 263 100% to 0

Hard to tell in the picture, is there a section of the vault that is "dryer" than others. Basically is there an area that would be good to keep things that you didn't care if they got wet like around the edges, and then a place that keeps things more dry?

Please keep us posted as you put more miles on, congrats on getting your truck!
I read these laments about the tonneau leaking but why wouldn’t people just put waterproof boxes (like the ones Tesla sells as accessories) in the bed for items that need to stay dry? It’s a pickup after all. I can see it being noted but I never expected it to be 100% waterproof: the news the OP provides is really very good.

Have you noticed the front of the vault getting wet when opening like some of the guys in the snow have? Or does the rain just slide down with the cover into the lower area below the vault?
zimage7291.png
That pic is just silly. Who would think that the snow would go anywhere but in the bed? When I am in snow country I sweep the snow off the entire car and scrape snow and ice off all the windows before going anywhere. Sure, test the obvious but don’t make a big deal about something that should (must) happen. This comment isn’t about you but about anyone that would make a big deal about it.
