First test of PowerShare gateway by installer didn’t go well…or smell good…it smoked as you can see in the video when powering the garage from CT, but the gateway didn’t start on fire and seems to run fine on grid power….but I’m not hooking up the truck to the wall connector again until I get a new gateway.

This is for my back garage…the absolutely most simple scenario possible. And even that can’t be done right.

I don’t have a good feeling about this but I’m glad I didn’t put it on my house.

I believe the "smoke" is originating from the NFT (Neutral Forming Transformer), so maybe it is defective.. the NFT forms the neutral (white wire) to generate 120V for the loads, from the 240V the truck is putting out.. it is only used when the truck is supplying power to the house (garage)

In my experience, Tesla doesn't do a good job of packing the gateways for shipping. It took 3 before I got one that wasn't physically smashed. I wouldn't be surprised about hidden damage even if it isn't visibly broken.
