That possible but they should have moved the solar panel feed to the house side of the Tesla Gateway.

Cybrtr808 said in post #9 last paragraph "The installer warned me that i should not keep the truck connected to the UWC when not actively charging in case the grid goes down and the system’s solar may back feed to the grid. "
Ah, yeah, that makes no sense...

Wish there was a poll option- is there anyone with Solar that is installed between the meter and the gateway- where powershare works? I have non tesla solar and am planning on keeping the solar on the grid side of the powershare- so when there's an outage the solar will shut off. The Cybertruck will then run the house until grid power is restored. Really curious about where folks solar is tied into this system.
You do realize if you do have your Solar installed between the meter and the gateway, then when the grid goes down your solar panels will not be able to assist your cybertruck in powering your house? In this configuration, your cybertruck battery will be drained faster because your solar panels are not helping out and there is a possibility (if the new powerShare solar softwear update comes with this ability) that your excess solar production (after meeting your house power needs) could charge your cybertruck battery during the day then your house will be powered by your cybertruck by itself at night in a grid down situation.

Yes- I'm tracking that. Once tesla enables solar i plan on moving the connection. We have an outage maybe 1 time a year. The longest one in the last 30 years was just over 24 hours, so the Cybertruck will do fine. I'm more concerned about them not enabling the powershare due to having solar... thank you for pointing this out as some folks don't understand this stuff. :)

I don't think that they installed it correctly. Since they didn't connect the in coming power using a main disconnect breaker, they might have bypassed the internal, automatic disconnect switch that is used in a grid down situation. Could you take the panel off your gateway, take some pictures and post them so I can see how they routed the incoming and out going power lines?

Is your (House Panel) and your (Garage Panel) rated at only 100 Amps each?

My entire main panel (whole house) is backed up by PowerShare as well but my main panel is 200 Amps so they installed a main breaker in the blank spot that that's not being used in your gateway.

Greatly appreciate everyone’s input and comments - Great community

Please see attached - and comment about correctly installed or if there is a better way.

I read in this thread or maybe was a similar thread that the PowerShare backup to power your house during an outage can work with non Tesla solar if it is configured a certain way. A hand drawn picture would be appreciated so I can visualize how it can be configured to work. I have drawn out in my last picture what I believe is how my system is setup.

Correct me, believe it requires the non Tesla solar to be installed between the grid/meter and the PowerShare Gateway. Is this correct? My Enphase solar breaker is installed in the Garage Panel, which I assume means it is protected by the PowerShare gateway’s automatic disconnect switch that is used in a grid down situation.

Thus in a grid blackout my solar system can not back feed to the grid. Am I understanding this correctly?

Ah that helps a lot!
Right, solar will not backfeed the grid.
And Powershare will not currently work (in daylight with the solar breaker on).
What was the original setup? It seems like the neutral ground bond is in the wrong spot (should probably be at the 200A breaker) or duplicated since the gateway is not the service entrance (but I'm not an electrician) :

When you ask what was the original setup? Do you mean prior to the PowerShare gateway?

my garage panel and solar breaker connection was not modified. Only change is the two 100 amp breakers in the gateway were the main cutoff next to the pic of the outside meter. The installer put in the new 200 amp as shown in the pics and moved the two 100 amp breakers to the gateway as shown.

regarding the bonding screw not being moved - that is beyond my knowledge of breaker boxes.

I am comfortable with waiting for the software update to get my backup system working. I read another recent post that a recent communication with Tesla is the software roll out is coming shortly.

Do you think as setup the software update is all I need to have the PowerShare backup work and use of the Enphase solar to charge during a sunny day outage ?

Yah, so did they do anything to the two original panels? If not, they were already sub panels, the bond is the outside breaker, and that bolt on the Gateway should be removed by the installer.

Yeah, should only be software, especially since the solar is only a 40A breaker (I've heard unverified rumblings of a 11kW limit)
