Just lost power at home, have the PowerShare installed and truck/app have all the required updates. When I go to Controls>Charging, there is no toggle for PowerShare.

any ideas on what I’m doing wrong?

I’m having the same issue. I’ve seen others with the option, but it’s not available for me. I chatted with Tesla and their official line is that PowerShare has not been released. They said June, which is what I think has been the indication for a while.

Thanks. Company who installed my PowerShare told me to call roadside service and see if they can push it to me. Getting the wifi up and running with an extension cord off the truck first.

I don't understand the attraction to Powershare V2H at the price they charge to install it. What advantage does it provide over a generator power inlet box/cable and a manual grid interlock or automatic transfer switch at a quarter the cost? When the grid goes down you disconnect from the grid and plug your CT into the inlet box with a 14-50p twist-lock male to female cable.

The 110 amps LRA and 11.5kw continuous that you can pull from the charging port, but it requires a neutral transformer installed in the house (PowerShare box). Vs the 9.6kw continuous and 60amp LRA that you can pull from the beds 15-50 outlet.

I agree. Higher output power level is an advantage if that much power is needed when a blackout occurs. But not knowing how long a blackout will last, it makes sense to turn off high power appliances to preserve the battery

A more significant advantage of Powershare over a direct connection with manual transfer switch is that when grid power returns, the house will automatically be reconnected to the grid, preserving as much battery charge as possible. That's important if the grid comes back on while you're asleep. An automatic transfer switch will do the same.

I thought it was June for those with a Powerwall already. I’ve seen others without a Powerwall say PowerShare is working for them.

And bed outlet can only continuesly run 12 hours but i guess it should be enough for the most urban out of power event.

My PowerShare is activated. I have no idea why I have it and others don’t. I didn’t receive an update that activated it. One day the app just had a message that said “Get to know PowerShare” and it was active. This was about 2 weeks after install. No emails, updates, or anything. Maybe they are selectively turning it on for some to beta test things?

One big advantage is it is automatic, you don’t have to do anything, it automatically backs it up if you are already plugged in and charging. Well, you might say, it’s not that hard to just walk out and plug into the inlet box. True, but what if you aren’t home? What if it’s the middle of the night and cold and raining outside? What about when the grid comes back on, you might not be aware of it and needlessly drain your battery. You can also track in the app exactly how much power is being consumed by the house in real time. It’s basically similar to having 9 power walls.

I agree, and I considered these advantages. In my situation they didn't add up to enough value for the price. I understand that for others these aspects are important and worth the cost. Here's why I chose the less expensive option:

1) My utility company has a very high reliability rating. Power failures are few and far between and usually short. It's hard to justify spending $3K - $4k even with the "free" hardware.
2) My Cybertruck is not usually plugged in, so chances are I'd have to take a minute or two to plug it in either way. When the CT is not at home, neither backup method works.
3) Since my inlet box is not used for a fueled generator, I installed it inside the garage so that I don't have to go outside in the rain to plug in the CT.
4) An automatic transfer switch will solve the problem of returning to grid power. I chose to install a manual interlock ($79) instead because at night power consumption drops to ~500W (no A/C) so there's little chance of completely draining CT's battery.
5) Opting out of the Powershare entitles me to a $750 voucher which I'll use to buy the latest Universal Wall Connector (with Magic Dock) for $620.

Keep in mind that the Powershare Gateway is not needed if you later choose to install a Powerwall system.

I only raise these points to make people aware of a less expensive alternative to Powershare in case the high installation cost is an issue.
