Hi,

I've just got a call from Gulfstar Electric yesterday, they are trusted by Tesla to do powershare installs in my area.

The rep told me that the current gateway does not actually support the power backup functionality with the existing electric panel if I have solar and that they are waiting for a software update for it (expected in the summer). He told me that they can install a sub-panel and move everything over there and it would work, but that makes the installation more expensive.

He also told me that the Powerwall already have a similar functionality, so if I had one, it would have worked.

I asked him if it would work to just plug the home in to my truck's 220V plug and run my home from it, but he says that yes, the truck can give you 220V, but it cannot give you the center wire, which would allow 120V equipments to work from that, so that's a no go now. It's also pretty dangerous.

In the end we agreed on waiting with the installation and see when he gets any new info.

I hope that info fills the void a little bit about powershare.

@dLux @ MyCybertruck.Rent , where are you located in Florida. I'm in Tampa. Just wondering if it'll be the same vendor as you. Also, You have an AWD, correct?

I'm in the Tampa bay area (Clearwater). We may have the same supplier, not sure.

Curious WTF he means by that, since it's already proven to work... 2:35 in this video: Cybertruck's Power Outlets Tested! ⚡ We Overload the Auxiliary Power and Found The Limits! (youtube.com)
It's likely he was thinking of the charging port because the NACS plug doesn't have neutral.

I also have solar so what my installer did was place the Tesla Gateway after the main power panel. My backup loads were moved to breakers in the Gateway while my solar inverter and non-backup loads stayed in the main panel.

It sounds like since I already have the latest Tesla Solar and Powerwalls (not 3 though) and gateways, all I'll need is the universal wall charger installed and that's it. I wonder if I still get the gateway that supposedly comes with the Foundation Series? If so, I'll sell it cheap to someone who needs it...
