BLUF:
Tesla assigned a company named HavePower to do my installation, but I just found out that they don't support my area in Virginia. I don't know how to contact Tesla to assign this to another company. Is anyone else in Richmond, Woodbridge, Manassas, etc. area getting the Powershare installation and have a installation company assigned?

Longer Version:
Like many I received a notification from Tesla saying that my area qualified after taking the survey. They then sent me an email at the end of February saying HavePower would be the installation company and they'd be reaching out to me to schedule a site visit. I never heard from them at all... So when I got my VIN I decided I should reach out to them to see what's going on. To help I even filled out their paperwork with pictures and a drawing of my garage. I got a one-liner back saying "We are sorry but ****** is out of our service area.".... I followed up and asked if the had told Tesla this so I can get another installer assigned since I can't respond to Tesla's original email. So far I haven't heard back from them.

I called Tesla Richmond and they pointed me back to the Powershare support page which doesn't provide a next step if a installer is selected but that installer can't do it. So I'm kind of in a bind. I expect Tesla still thinks that HavePower is doing this and I highly doubt HavePower has communicated anything back to Tesla. It also doesn't appear that calling a Tesla service/sales location will get you the right people.

The last thing I want is to end up with some credit or something like that. I know I can have this installation done in my area. I just need the correct installer. Any help from the VA community would be appreciated. Thank you!

I was in the same situation with HavePower here in Fredericksburg, VA. I contacted Richmond store and they knew Master Electrical Services was installing in Richmond. I contacted them and explained the situation and they reached out to Tesla and got my installation reassigned to them. They said Fredericksburg was as far north as they would go. Here is their website, give them a call. Good luck

Just what I know.
The PowerShare thing is just a little confusing.

Pulling the voltage and amps from the battery is a dangerous thing. Allowing that current to get back to the grid is really dangerous to the line folks out there or where ever the fault may be.

I was told that a PowerWall is required. That is NOT right. But to be installed correctly, there has to be an auto switch between your home meter and the box that is fed by the battery. That "my dear" is the hard and dangerous part of the install.

I am going to take the credit and buy a wall charger. Mine works great. I was going to put the PowerShare at our vacation house but honestly, the power has NEVER gone off there for more than a couple of hours. So, I am going to put in a 220 outlet, and use the truck to "backfeed" the house. This is NOT recommended for anyone else but it is a simple fix for a very temporary situation and honestly, I will probably never need it.

Plug the cable to the 220 outlet AFTER turning off the main breaker coming to the house. Turn off ALL the breakers in the box in the house. Plug the cable to the truck and activate the plug in the truck UI. Now, you can turn on the breakers that you need in the house but only up to 30-40 amps worth of real load. So, ovens and electric heat and heat pumps are no goes, but lights, TV and fans and light loads like that will work fine. Same deal as hooking it to a camper to power that!

When the power comes back on, turn off the UI in the truck, unplug the cable and turn all the breakers off, turn on the main breaker and turn all the other breakers on one at a time.
