I am about to get a Universal Wall Connector installed and I am wondering if I need to wire the RS-485 of the UWC to my Gateway 2. The goal here is to enable PowerShare in the future. I don't own a Cybertruck and am aware that software updates are pending for customers with a similar setup to mine.

My current stack is Solar + Powerwall 2 + Gateway 2. Unfortunately I don't have room for breakers in the gateway since Solar, Batteries and Home SPD each require a double pole breaker. Seems like only GW3 and 3V have room for 8 breakers. So the 60A breaker for the UWC will go into the backed up main panel that immediately follows the Gateway 2.

So my question is, should I still hook up the UWC low voltage comms to the Gateway? This is what I see people doing when no Powerwalls are on site. From my understanding of the GW 2 manual, the UWC comms would terminate this way:

But do I have to? Or should I hook it up anyways and then eventually disconnect once clarity on the software update is out?

Thanks!

For homes that already have Gateway and Powerwall, you only need a 240V charge connector (at one point they docs said non-Tesla would work, but now the page say Wall Connector) . You don't need UWC specifically but it's a good connector if you didn't already have one, and definitely don't need a comms cable.
You DO need the updated Powershare software that Tesla has not released yet.
