PSA, my cybertruck headliner had to be replaced because it was drooping slightly and would not stay in place. When they pulled it off to replace at the service center, somehow they pulled on a little plug around the PRNDL box too hard and damaged it, causing my right headlight to go out, what?

Not a big deal, right? Wrong.

Just because of one little stupid plug around the headliner, now they have to replace the ENTIRE harness of the CT. It's all connected it seems.

Tesla is literally taking apart my entire cyber truck, dozens of parts are scattered, set aside, or shifted to replace the entire harness inside my truck. They are taking care of me, yes, but this whole situation has me very uneasy.

Please be careful with anyone handling your wire connections because if one breaks, it could mean replacing the entire harness. You cannot get the little plastic plugs... yet. It's like 100+ connections in this harness all throughout the vehicle. This harness is like $800 and a dozen hours of MasterTech labor, so $$$$, if you have to pay it yourself.

I will be checking my vehicle intensely when they return it to me next week for any new creeks, malfunctions, damage, or other gremlins.

I'm not allowed to share the photos I took of this in the bay because they asked me to keep them private. It's very nerve racking to see your new truck taken apart like this. My truck is only 3 months old with 1k miles on the odo.

Good times.

There's no way they are replacing the entire wiring harness. Has to be just a section of it.

All I can tell you is that the new wiring harness I saw laid out on the floor of the service center bay is gigantic.

Sounds to me like they don’t understand troubleshooting 101 and opted to replace the entire harness which is very unnecessary. Sections of the harness can be isolated and replaced without tearing the truck to pieces.

I think something got lost in translation, the right headlight is a direct feed from the right controller.

$800 is stupidly cheap for a harness. And just the ability to replace it is phenomenal.

This is why I just choose to ignore certain minor issues because their fix can (likely) make things worse

Wow then it probably is the whole harness or at least a large part of it. Thanks for sharing and good luck we hope you get your truck back fast.

Update, got the truck back from Tesla.

Everything is in order, drove 25 miles on bumpy roads back home, no issues.

Spoke to the service manager and they confirmed that if any issues pop up with the truck they will fix it, no questions. He informed me that this offer is being extended to customers who ordered the foundation series cybertruck, because this is a brand new vehicle for them.
