I am looking for trouble free foam gun suggestions, pros & cons about garden hose versus pressure wash versions. Looking at reviews I find responses all over the map. Thanx in advance for any replies from actual owners/users of foam guns.

I recommend using a foam gun attached to a pressure washer. A bit of Dawn dish soap mixed with a foaming spray soap works great at removing any tough oily sludge from the truck.?

If people are giving bad reviews for foam cannons then they are using cheap crap that's not worth the trouble. Generally the cheap, off the shelf pressure washers provide a paltry flow rate. You really don't need a very high PSI for a good result. Flow rate is more important.

All depends on where you place the most value. Do you buy quality tools that are designed to last 10+ years? Or stuff designed to be thrown away after a couple seasons?

Here is a good start if interested in the higher quality tools:

I use the foam cannon that came with this pressure washer. Works well, but not as well as the Chemical Guys foam cannon (my version only fits to a hose bib though, so can't use it with the pressure washer). This stuff is amazing though, does a great job on the CT and M3H, and the garage really does smell amazing for a couple of days after!

Foam cannons are used by people trying not to scratch their clearcoat or who have it helps keep soap from drying on if they have to wash in the sun.

In my opinion, the Cybertruck doesn't benefit from a foam cannon, just use a bucket of soapy water and long-handled truck washing brush. It's quick and easy and works well. You can follow up with Sprayway for anything the bush didn't get perfectly clean.

You live in California, as do I. I use Quick Quack ($21 per month) for the basic unlimited wash. 90 seconds and it comes out the other end like a brand new baby. Washing takes too much time. Quick Quack is a California company with other 180 sites. Hopefully they start opening more site site in the Bay Area.

My car is always looking good. I just took a trip to Los Angeles last week and when I got there I went through a Quick Quack so the Cybertruck was standing tall. After I got back yesterday afternoon, I went through the Quick Quack in Hayward/Castro Valley to get all the road grime/bugs off of it.

I did my first wash on my Beast today with this and the foam cannon from chemical guys, then hand washed with a microfiber mit which was then followed with a round with Iron X which come out pretty good. My truck was delivered without being cleaned so it was pretty thick with dirt and ’rust’ spots.

Was washing in the dark but was using spot lights. Pretty happy with the results! Looking forward to see the results in daylight tomorrow!

Great thread. I’m looking to do my first detailed cleanup of my Beast. I have been only doing touch-less carwash so far.

Is it ok to use 7th generation Dish soap instead of Dawn?

My HOA does lot of micromanagement. Someone got a warning for leaving a pool of chemical soap on the driveway. If I use chemical free biodegradable soap, I might get a pass. Sometimes I travel on dirt road. I don’t have an option but to clean in my driveway. Automatic car wash doesn’t clean the underbody and suspension. I need to use some good biodegradable chemical free soap that doesn’t react with the stainless steel. I’ll use Sprayway for spot cleaning and try both pressure wash and bucket wash. I’ll go with whatever is most convenient.

Your HOA sounds awful. I mean, they all are, but some are just evil overlords.

FWIW, when I rinse mine (long driveway that drains to the street, and no HOA, thankfully), I don't notice any suds being left behind.

I just used HOT water and a micro fiber towel for my first wash today, it warmed up enough for the water to not freeze on contact. It worked really well, I might even use this method in the summer. Took about 2 hours but i took my time. Wiped down with denatured alcohol after.
