I just got a dual-motor Cybertruck last Friday. I traded in my 2019 Model 3 and took advantage of the inventory discount, loyalty discount, and FSD transfer to make it worth while. I loved my Model 3. It needed a few maintenance items that I had been putting off.

I was worried that I would get a lot of negative reactions from other drivers. So far, my experience has been quite different. I get a lot of thumbs-ups, smiles, and nod's. I had one kid who was in the back seat of a car driving next to me give me the biggest smile and a virtual fist bump. Made my day. I don't actually care what other people think, but was worried about road rage type incidents and so far there hasn't been any of that.

What has your experience been?

My experience has been that the negativity has greatly amplified by the media and a small army of very vocal Elon/Tesla haters, far out of proportion to anything I see in the physical world. The online world mirrors this fake reality.

This is not new, for years the media focussed on EV fires, even though they catch on fire at around 1/12th the rate of ICE vehicles. Fires are an everyday occurrence with ICE vehicles, they just don't get widely reported by the nationwide press (who never fail to publicize that rare EV fire). It's the same with vandal attacks and Elon/Tesla hate.

The funny thing is, when we discover who was behind the attacks, we see pictures like this:

These vandals have deep-seated issues with their self-esteem. Now they are charged with felonies. Whenever I see someone trashing Tesla/Elon online, I wonder just how damaged they must be inside, that they have serious issues with their own self-worth. That's the only thing that explains it. Tesla's only role in this is being exceptionally successful. That makes them a target.

Let's be glad this isn't becoming mainstream, because any society that doesn't celebrate success is on the road to failure. They cannot survive.

Congrats on buying the best vehicle made!

I’ve had some negative reactions, but the positives are 3x more.

100%. And the protestors at Tesla dealerships were part of the gig economy and being paid to stand with signs that were provided for them. All of them.

Ding ding ding! Correct answer! lol

If I remember correctly, they were getting paid around $30-40 an hour....and were only paid for an hour (at least the ones at one of the Tesla Stores near me). Like clockwork, at 12:10pm, they were GONE. I also knew some weren't really invested in protesting against Tesla bc I was at the red light 3 feet away from them in the Cybertruck. I looked over and a woman and man smiled at me and just waved. I remember the look in her eyes was something like, "Hi, I'm a nice person and you seem like a nice person. I'm just here hanging out" lol

we live in a crazy world. My neighbor asked me yesterday why I bought an ugly car. I told him that I wanted him to feel better about his VW. Not satisfied with not being able to get under my skin, he said "so, you support natzi's?". I said, "No, or I would have bought a VW". He looked puzzled, so I sent him a history book on VW. He hasn't spoken to me since.

I am actually really impressed with how well it rides. I am finding that I actually prefer the camera based rear-view because I am able to zoom in/out.

I get a lot more people swerving into my lane driving the CT compared to my Model Y. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

Some days are diamonds, some days are dust.

Today, a teenager (!!) strolling by in a parking lot said "I like your Cybertruck". Teens are usually the snarky comments in a group, but by themselves they can be pretty friendly.
