I did my first "long-range" CT road trip on April 8 to north of Minnesota, Giants Ridge ski area.
Total round trip was 436 miles, temp was around 30F (below freezing point).
I stopped to charge once on the way to destination and once on the way back.
I did charge CT all way up to 100% for the trip.
I did experience range anxiety and it kinda saved me big time. While charging in the morning at Carlton Supercharger at Black Bear Casino, CT estimate was that charging to 67% would be enough to continue trip. but anxiety made me ask the q-n: "How about making it back to Tesla charger?" So I kept on charging until 90%. It took about 40 minutes to go from 36% to 90%.
After driving 75 miles at destination battery was at 50%. So that was hopefully enough to drive 75 miles back to Supercharger.
At 6pm we were ready to go back, battery was at 46% and range estimating about 125 miles, but navigation estimate was showing 8% battery at arrival to the Supercharger (75 miles distance).
On the way back I did charge again all way up to 90% as I didnt want to do additional stops.
This trip came out roughly to 2 miles per 1% of battery.

What? Sometimes lot words confuse when little words do better. So you get about 244 miles from 100-0? Was that the point? In freezing temps you only have 244 miles of range?

That was confusing. I don’t get it.

Sloow down boys! don't gang up on me! I am biggest fan of CT and take every middle finger from tolerant people of joy as badge of honor!
This is not scientific research with PHD level math, detailed analysis and graphs. I just threw ski gear and couple teenagers and went to ski last time in the season!

and thank you for clarifying q-s!
- Tires: Cybertruck 20" Cyber Wheel and Winter Tire Package
- Tire Pressure: IDK, whatever recommended so CT doesnt yell at me
- Highway Speed: close to 80 MPH
- Battery consumption during trip: around 680 Wh/M (I get 430 Wh/M in summer in city driving at speed limit)

Lessons learned:
1. Always use navigation to get accurate battery level
2. Think about roundtrip availability for Superchargers

Question: Is there a reliable app that shows non-Tesla chargers available?

Yup, range anxiety is something very real :)

I wonder if there are scenarios were going faster (so as to get to a destination quicker) ends up actually increasing the total trip time when the combination of trip distance and available Superchargers necessitates charging the battery nearly all the way up (which of course can take a heck-of-a-lot-of time), rather than a quick charge or no charge at all that might be associate with driving considerably slower... (There are two non-linear functions involved here: the relationship between speed and energy consumption, and the relationship between the state of charge of the battery and the charging speed. Add to that the effect of temperature on both vehicle range, and battery charging speed...)

Sign me up for the results of this experiment when someone actually does it. Often thought about the trade off in time vs speed. For me, reducing the amount of time from start to finish is most important. hence, the conundrum do I actually save total time by going faster when I ”waste” more time at the supercharge? I guess one way would be to have 2 CTs follow same route for at 6 or 700 miles and then compare.
I’m headed to Chicago from Virginia this summer and would be willing to document my trip if anyone else is following a similar route. I will use the Tesla nav system for routing. Not sure how we would factor in traffic in the major city hubs along the way. Open to suggestions.

PlugShare seems to be a fairly good app. Last spring, leaving from Western Wisconsin, I was able to haul my boat to Lake Kabetogama using only the Carlton charger on the way up and on the way back. The resort did have a 30amp I plugged into on arrival so I didn't need to worry about round trip.

In warm weather with CT foundation with the big off-road tires, we got 328 miles of range. Drove from suburbs of Philly to Halifax NC SC without stopping to charge.

Avg speed 50. Max 73mph. 109.7% efficiency. 79F weather last July. 50PSI in tires. That’s with 3 adult sized and one 11 year old and a ton of luggage in bed.

This machine is awesome for road trips.

Winter tire package and 80mph are probably the main reason your mileage was significantly lower than predicted

First week I got the CT base with all seasons went on a winter trip to poconos and it did exceptionally well….hit right around 315 mostly highway at around 75mph but I keep tires aired up a bit higher than minimum and have the all season tires, didn’t run heat that high either….around 68 on the setting
