Rear view mirror designed to be removed?

Obviously the CyberTruck's rear view mirror was designed to be removed. They even include a hole cover built into the trim.

The mirror is the cheapest, flimsiest part I've ever seen. The truck is a beast, but that mirror man.

It's about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. If you're on the fence, it only takes a T20 Torx wrench and about 30 seconds of your time.

I never had a car with a screen for the rear-view mirror, but these reasons certainly are cons to the rear-view mirror being a screen for the rear camera

Tesla designed all the mirrors to be removed. Rear view and side mirrors. Not only is the rear view mirror tiny, the edges warp the reflection.

A persistent, multi-camera view would be excellent. I've been interested in a slick solution for this problem for years and it just doesnt exist. There are some solutions 18 wheelers and other commercial vehicles, but they very bulky and industrial looking.

My dream is that Tesla would allow access to their cameras over their ethernet bus for 3rd party solutions.

In reality, regardless of your comment or opinion, removing the mirror gives you about 15% more visible area to process while driving. I like that.

Since it's no longer in my peripheral, It also instantly helped me look down to the digital rear-view without first looking up, habits ...

The mirror is pretty useless unless you're looking at folks in the back seat perhaps.

Aw, come on, you've never had to learn new habits when you get in different planes? You still look for the six pack around the column and not on the GPS MFDs?

Why would I need to constantly look at that? I can just turn my head to check if needed.

How can you see the passenger in the seat behind you with just a head turn?
Or was there a movie made about you?

If I want to check the load in the bed, a quick glimpse in the mirror works fine.
