Regret purchasing FSD

I’ve had a 2025 AWD truck for 3 weeks now. Purchased FSD as part of promotion. I’ve regretted purchasing FSD, but only because this truck is so much fun to drive. FSD is still incredibly impressive. But the steer by wire combined with rear wheel steering is mind blowing. Seriously feels like driving the future. My wife described it like going from a typewriter to a laptop. Technically a F150 or Tundra does the same basic things, but no where near with this capability and ease of use. I initially thought $80,000 was a little high, but after 3 weeks, that’s exactly a fair price for the leap forward this truck is. Tesla would move a whole lot more of these if people could experience driving them. Don’t judge it til you drive it!

My CT delivery got delayed a day and they gave me a Model 3 to use. It was also a lot of fun to drive and I did not want to use the FSD. I've had my CT for a week and feel I should be testing out the FSD but, like you said, it has been too much fun to drive. Going on a long drive Monday so maybe then......or not?.

I love my CT too. The only thing I'm different from you is, I love the fsd and I love the auto park. Being older at 80, I lost my sharp estimation so I let my CT do all the work. $80,000 seemed over the top price for me but it's worth it.

My only issue is the cantrail recall. I bought mine in February and I'm still waiting for it. Wrapping is postponed because I don't want it redone if the cantrail needs repair. However, I don't really have a problem with the cantrail (yet).

In January I bought a FS AWD w FSD. The steer-by-wire is the #1 technology that sold me on the vehicle. In fact, driving this big, heavy vehicle with traditional steering linkages and all the other advancements would not have cut it. My wife loves it too and we thought of purchasing a Tesla car but decided to hold off until they progress to steer-by-wire also.

Very impressed with the FSD too and I use it daily mostly to do what I can to help Tesla get the kinks out of it, and find where the gotchas are hidden in my neck of the world.

I’d say I use FSD 70% of the time when I don’t need the thrill of driving it myself. In fact I’m looking forward to when FSD doesn’t require supervision. But there will always be times for me to have the pure fun that comes to us CT owners!

FSD seems to have the most value on highway for me. In city is just to fun to drive it. Just haven’t gotten the chance to take it long distance yet.

We've used FSD on our Model S LR for almost 6 years. We're happy to have FSD on our Cybetruck.

FSD came in very handy during traffic jam, which is very common at the Bay Area here. We just engaged FSD, and the car drove through traffic jam all the way to the destination (usually to work or back home.)

FSD makes traffic jam way less stressful for us.

Yep, it’s so much more relaxing in LA traffic on FSD than if manual driving.

Love the FSD. There are minor differences with the CT vs my MS FSD. For example, my CT occassionally doesn't always stay centered in the lane and likes to ride the right or left line.

I understand what you’re saying. I think FSD is amazing and I use it every day, but it is a lot of fun to drive the cybertruck I always start out driving manually, then switch to FSD when the drive gets boring. I drove a Ford F150 and it’s not even comparable to the Cybertruck in my opinion.

I think you’ll really appreciate FSD on a long trip. In my case I drive through LA traffic to Santa Barbara monthly. Distance is ~120 miles of freeway with lots of pockets of congestion, occasional incidents or road repairs, freeway changes, HOV transitions, and a stretch of ocean and Channel Islands views. FSD handles the drive remarkably well.

In addition to relieving us of all the high gain tasks of driving, FSD provides a higher level of safety along the way. Tesla has released this data.

Prior to the CT I did the Santa Barbara drive with legacy car technologies. During a return trip last year and late at night, a vehicle was stopped perpendicular to and in my lane. Without tail lights or head lights facing me, the pending catastrophe was less than obvious. I very narrowly escaped a tragedy for me and the other occupants only because I swerved into other lanes to avoid a collision. Honestly I was not well aware of my options at the moment I had to take action. FSD, operating with full 360 awareness and processing for potential safety issues and corresponding options would have handled the situation better than I did. FSD isn’t perfect but it’s going to help me have more days to enjoy the CT.

You’ll find a role for FSD.

We all had to driver our FS trucks for a while as we waited on FSD. It was fun. But over time I don't think I'd want a car without FSD at least to current day capability. It's very useful in drives.

Especially being able to eat that occasional Whataburger after the gym on the way home hehehe.
