That’s a good question. I’m already about a three hour drive from the Gigafactory in Fremont where I’ll pick it up but I’d do a road trip to and from Texas if that was the only way to get it.

…if they pay for the flight and one night of hotel.

this addition would make the ‘Foundation Series’ worth it IMO.

The Destination Fee ($2K) of your FS CT would cover large portion of your travel expenses if Tesla would waive that fee.

Back in early 2018 I flew from Denver to West Palm Beach to take delivery of our model XP100D. I thought picking it up near family and then making a 2000+ mile roadtrip would be a great way to learn all about owning an electric car. What an awesome time!
Now that I live in south Florida, I would love to take delivery in Texas and then drive the truck home!

Currently many people near Austin are getting passed over for invites from people in other states with higher reservation numbers.
People in Austin are also still having to pay the destination fee.

So if it did not shorten my delivery time, or did not lower my destination fee, no not going to just drive 600 miles for the heck of it.

I hope Tesla provides that option when my res is pulled. I live in Louisiana and this state has a ban on the delivery of vehicles directly from the Mfgr. Going to Austin to pick up my CT in person? . . That would be the dream.

It doesn't seem reasonable, but maybe factories are "required" (by whom?) to collect destination delivery fees, even if they had to drive it 20 feet. I think a lot of people would avoid the $2k fee if they could drive away directly from the factory.

It may be nothing but a money grab in those situations. I know it is based on the weight, and the average distance a truck would have to haul that weight, where everyone shares the fee equally to get there.
Hawaii is really killing us, lol.

Yes because I want a cyberlandr installed at the same time. Anyone know their status or ETA when they start delivering?
