Went to take delivery of my AWD dual motor cybertruck, 77xxx VIN. Upon inspection there was a large gouge in the metal of one of the rear side panels. It was deep enough to catch a fingernail when running across it. Overall this was the only issue aside from the tailgate being slightly higher on one side, and what looked to be hundreds of iron deposit spots on the frunk. From what I understand the iron deposits can be removed easily.

Delivery/sales reps said they weren't sure if the gouge in the metal could be fixed or repaired at the service center. Instead of accepting or rejecting the vehicle, the delivery was just rescheduled to allow time to figure out options. This was an inventory vehicle and there are no other inventory vehicles within 200 miles that match my specs. Still waiting to hear back from Tesla, as communication is difficult directly with the delivery location.

Would you accept the vehicle with the gouge? Or ask for a new VIN? Other considerations are this vehicle came with 1 year free supercharging and premium connectivity, and I was approved for 0% financing with FSD. So I am wondering if all that would transfer to a different VIN if this vehicle is rejected.

Similar happened to me.. in the end they replaced the entire Drivers Door on my CyberTruck free of charge..

I noted the ‘scratches’ all over the truck when I picked it up.. must were able to be sanded-down/blended-in (however they want to word it) but they could not get the scratches completely with that same methed out of the door, so they just flat out replaced it..

took about a month or so, but I am happy in the end..

They mentioned they might be able to replace it, but it's the large rear panel behind the passenger door. And they said it would have to go to a Tesla body shop because the service center couldn't change out that rear panel.

I'd give them a chance to fix it, either by buffing/sanding or replacing the panel. Definitely don't accept it like that, IMHO.
Yeah that's what I'm waiting to hear back on. Thanks for the input on not accepting. I was on the fence but the vehicle is almost 100k w/ FSD (I don't qualify for the $7500 tax credit), so I held off on accepting since it's a pretty significant defect.

You could always lease it and get the $7500 off and then buy out within a month. Depending on fees, you’ll probably save $6k.

I have the 0% approval so that saves a ton on interest. Not really looking to pay cash with a lease then buyout

My CT came with a small problem with the front seat. Tesla was very good about making it right. If they say they will fix it, they will! I'm happy as could be with my CT and already have 35,000 miles on it!

Thanks. Tesla is supposed to update me tomorrow with options.

For anyone that has rejected a delivery - did Tesla offer to transfer incentives? As this was an inventory truck, it is supposed to come with 1 year free supercharging and 1 year premium connectivity. If they transfer me to a new build/non inventory, I would want the 1 year free supercharging as well.

Just following up on this - Tesla is replacing the entire panel in house at the service center, along with some other minor issues (iron deposits, door alignment, tailgate alignment). Delivery still pending for later this week.

Would anyone still consider rejecting the vehicle after this? It's a 77XXX VIN. From what I understand new vehicle builds are 79XXX VINs. Just wondering if that build quality would be better than the one I have currently assigned.
