Oh, interesting, I wasn't aware that early Model X required a fob for operating the doors from the outside. thx!

Do you know if this is still the case on the 2024 models?
The FOB is not required for a 2024 Model X, you can use phone key or key card. The phone key can now self-present the trunk if you have that feature enabled. With the FOB you can easily open any door/trunk as well as close and lock them all with some quick thumb presses. But it’s not enough to justify carrying a FOB in my pocket. I remember when FOBs, pagers, and cash in your pockets was cool.

I'm just curious if this is possible with the Cybertruck. We have a model X and it is such a nice feature not to touch the doors when opening or closing.

I was disappointed when I learned that the Cybertruck doesn't come with it. Now I am hoping that a software update would Suprise me with this feature. I'm sure someone knows if there are even actuators in the CT doors.
Yeah, it would be even fine if they just opened with the actuator and you didn’t have to press the button.

I’ve always thought they should just roll out the feature for all makes. What an incredible value to give them all. I’ve owned 2 X’s and still have the 2020 X. It’s so dang nice that it opens for you a little when your off the front quarter and then you walk past the door and it opens all the way. My wife LOVES her X.

Speaking of opening the doors, does everyone else’s driver door button have a non-tactile mushy feeling when you press it? My rear doors have a nice satisfying click when pressed, but front doors do not. SC says it works as expected and wouldn’t look into it further.

None of my buttons "click" audibly or have a click feeling. Mushy sounds bad, but I guess that describes them. They feel like buttons to me, but not like cherry mx mechanical switches or anything ? that'd be weird

On my previous 2016 MX you could set it to Exclude Home for the auto-present doors to mitigate this problem. But then you have to open them yourself at home. Deciding to use that feature depends on how much you walk by it I guess. ??‍♂
Yes, that is a setting that I forgot about. I'm in and out of the garage when loading/unloading the X so to avoid multiple opening and closing of the driver door it's best to just leave the FOB in the car.

You can disable the auto-present when at home or other locations. For example I disabled it at home because I always walk past the car, not to drive it but because it’s there. What really made me disable it that I didn’t want to swinging open when was on the riding mower. Not sure if it would but don’t want to take the chance.

The Cybertruck is not the Model X.

For me it has become one action to press the button and pull the door open. is the extra 2 inches that your hand has to travel going to kill you?

Most likely not but you never know. Besides, I like no fingerprint smudges on the glossy black plastic.

Once you get spoiled with the auto open and close doors of the X you notice it. Just like the great steering of the CT. Once you go to another car you wonder why all cars aren’t like the CT steering.

Exactly, “would turning the steering wheel another turn kill you?”. No but I’d rather not have to do that now.
