Anyone have any new info on options for snow tires?
I noticed the other day that TSportine includes Nokian Hakka LT3 tires as an option for some of their 20” wheel packages, so that could be a viable option. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tesla has an option listed on their shop by fall, too, though knowing them it’ll be out-of-stock an hour later …

So useful to break ice and fallen trees ^-^

Last summer when we were on CA 87 we got stopped for a fallen tree and had to dig out the machete and ax and (along with the other stopped drivers) took apart a tree that had blocked the road.

By the time the Hi-Po showed up, it was half gone, and by the time CalFire got there, we were driving away ^-^ Helped there was a Forest Service station not far away so one of their trucks was in the mix and had a chainsaw.

My winter kit contains a chainsaw, just not the summer one.

I have extraction chain, jacklift, ax/pick, traction mat, etc on my former RV puller.

I'll keep that chainsaw in mind next time I do winter road trips and camping.

It's first day of summer here.

Never thought winter snow is year round on this part of the world. :p

Two days ago, had to stay one more night in Idaho Falls as there was a snow storm warning on my route.

I am pretty confident that CT can handle it with the standard-issue tires and all the anti-slip tech, etc.

But then the advisory said to bring extra food, water and thick blankets.

The one that gets me to reconsider was that it includes an ax.

Used to I-80 Truckee, Donner Summit and Yosemite in winter.

But that serious to advise to bring ax?
In our country — Jackson, WY — studded winter tires make the most sense.

Yeah, my wife so admired Montana and Alberta and blurted out that it must be nice to "live here".

I said, wait 'til you are here in winter.

And we've done the dreaded Teton Pass pulling an RV in rain and fog. Never again!

So what do we know about the AT tires that come with the ct? Worse than blizzaks I bet right?
The OEM Goodyears are much worse in snow than Blizzaks will be. I will definitely be running legit snow tires next winter. I had several UT & ID snow days after getting my CT this winter, and the AT tires dont have enough grip for predictable winter driving. Donuts and drifting were in slo-mo due to tons of mass and severe lack of grip (still fun!?), despite frozen gravel beneath the 3” fresh snow.

OTOH, the Pirelli 3Peak on my wife’s Rivian 20” AT are pretty solid in the snow. They’re 275/65/20 which is fine for CT (marginal speed rating), and Blizzak has an E-rated tire that’ll fit. I’ll probably go with the Blizzaks for next winter due to noise complaints from Rivian owners on that Pirelli.

There's ice somewhere up there. The glaciers used to last all year on Shasta and along the Sierras... They're almost all gone now.

-Crissa
They may soon rename Glacier National Park into something else.

We have not seen any although the ranger said it's still out there (waving his hand). ?
