Sold My CT

Sold my non-foundation CT yesterday. Pristine condition with 6K miles. Paid $79,900 and CarMax gave me $69,000. I definitely took a hit but not as bad as I thought it would be.

I want to be clear that the CT is unequivocally one of the nicest vehicles I have ever driven. Smooth, powerful and steer-by-wire is kinda life changing. That said, selling it was the right thing for *me. As much as I enjoyed the truck, there is no getting around the fact that it screams "look at me" and I didn't realize just how much it screams that until I owned one and it got to be a bit too much. Also realized that the size of the vehicle was a bit of an issue for me. Furthermore, the grandkids have their own cars now so it's just me and my dog 99% of the time I drive so there's that. Eh. Live and learn.

I ordered up a new Model Y LR and will be taking delivery within 1-3 weeks.

It’s funny you say the primary downside is essentially the public response to the vehicle. I completely agree. If I were to downgrade, the sole reason would be to blend back in with the background.

I fully understand your decision. $69k isn’t too bad considering the resale market for the Cybertruck.

I did a nation wide Autotrader search for used CT’s the other day and nothing was lower than $70k.

You’re going to love the Model Y. We have a 4 year old Y and it’s been troublfree minus a home charging unit that was replaced under warranty. I think the front and rear styling look way better than the outgoing model.

Thanks. I will admit I'm really excited about it. The only thing it doesn't have and I was hoping Tesla would enable is bidirectional charging so I could use it as a backup battery at my house.

Ha! Just read that Tesla plans to enable bidirectional charging on *all Tesla's on 2025. Elon being Elon that may go into 2026 but at least it is apparently coming!

As far as I've read, older Teslas aren't capable from a hardware standpoint.

Funny you should mention that. I’m pretty sure the two things I will miss the most are the steer-by-wire and the squircle. If there are aftermarket squircles; I’m on it.

Model y for a dog is great. come to think of it, all my cars have been dog cars, model y being second only to the VW Jetta wagon Which was basically a dog house for 3 dobermans.
