All the EV trucks come with a spare tire so far.

Silverado will also have one INCLUDED, confirmed.

For Rivian, you can include it during checkout and it has a storage location under the bed. Not the best, but IT IS there.

If Tesla does not include/offer one, AND allow to store it out of sight [not just thrown on the bed], people WILL notice.

Some shops may fix a flat for free but never balance it. So you can come back with a "vibration" issue and then pay money... business...
Balance and mount from 5 to 10 bucks. Diagnostic fee... well too high for my bank...
If they do that, they're putting an unsafe car on the road and can be sued.

Unfortunately many shops in my area do not fix flat for free. And many more don't even mount tires unless purchased from them with that same justification.

I buy set of 4 new BF GoodRich, with stickers still on them. Most shops will not mount and balance unless purchased from them. This was not the case PC but today.. it is what it is..

Yeah, I had to get special permission to get them to mount the tires on my motorcycle - they weren't able to get them when I ordered them - for them to mount tires.

But there are shops that will fix flats for free And others that charge. Just gotta call around.

Tesla tires have a foam inner that I would not trust a regular tire-fixing place to repair. And it is under warranty so Tesla picked up the tab. It certainly goes without saying that tire repair is a weak link in the Tesla vehicle. Like you I am used to driving up to a garage and having a flat repaired in 10-20 minutes. No more, at least with stock Tesla tires. Maybe the CT tires will be different?

I amm concerned that a tire shop that deals in everyday domestic vehicle will not know how to properly protect my battery pack when jacking up the Tesla
Am I the only one that thinks the CT shouldn't ever get damaged by jacking it up using basically any jack in any location? This thing is supposed to be able to rock climb. I believe the picture below was part of the launch night media. If the truck can take all the abuse of solid rocks banging against the underbody from every angle, in every position, then I don't see why a simple jack lifting the truck would be able to cause any damage.

I get that the jack has a pretty small head and that with all the lifting happening at that one location the weight of the truck will be magnified there. But I've seen trucks rock climbing that get high centered on a single point. Then to get over that rock sometimes the driver will back up a bit and take a run at it. Or it will get pulled over the rock using a winch.

Yes, if I have to change a tire on my CT at some point, I'll do my best to jack it up using the recommended tools and procedures. But if I'm out on the trail and something as simple as a rock hitting the underbody causes damage to the battery pack, then the CT was not designed or built right.

It would be stupid if the killer awesome most wonderful truck had an achilles heel that was the most obvious point of possible damage that would almost certainly get hit on a regular basis.

But sure, try to follow the correct procedures when jacking it up.

Question: Have you ever owned a truck or have been off roading?
I haven't been rock climbing in a truck. But I actually own a Ford truck at the moment. And grew up driving huge farm tractors (ex: 8 wheel drive John Deere) and cobbled together vehicles (ex: trucks stripped to the frame, and then reversed the steering and seating to be used as a hay sweep using a large hay fork on the "front") and all of this experience was off-road. And if you are defining road as a paved road, then I have much more recent experience on dirt, and less developed tracks.

But what does that matter? Have you ever owned an EV super truck? Based on what I've seen from Rivian owners, I'd say that much of what ICE truck drivers think about the off-road experience is going to be irrelevant when we have CT's.

I will buy an extra wheel and tire and try to find a storage solution that fits in the bed to help preserve the aerodynamics… but can also see getting a hitch mount that swings away (seen lots of options from Jeep and other off-road 4x4 trucks.

I have high centered one of my 4x4s on rocks and snow (different months the same year), but the most ‘oh’ moment was going up a steep incline and feel the Jeep balance on the back tires…. Slowly rolling backwards kept everyone safe and the Jeep from testing the rollbars.

Tesla could innovate a tire TEMP solution. Pressure varies with temp. Maximizing constant rolling resistance at optimum TEMP regulation would kill two birds. Bingo best economy/kW.
Last year in SantaFe anbient was 79°F blew RF tire. Asphalt measured by tow truck was 128°F. He claimed tire blowouts were bulk of his pickups. The asphalt favors the sun inclination and 7000‘+ elev adds to the intensity. Bingo best flat protection!
