Did Australia recently pass up Thailand in terms of the most pickups per capita?
Couldn't tell you, just a factoid I read recently. I know they build them in Thailand but do they sell a ton of them there too? I don't recall seeing any there at all but that was a decade ago.

CCS is not a little bigger than NACS, it's grossly bigger (and uglified).
I dunno man, I've never held a NACS charger. But it looks like it's maybe 20% smaller at best? Something like that.

Edit - here you go. Was (sloppily) referring to the home version; fast chargers have the full kit. Still smaller than what I've seen of the US version of CCS, I get it...

What are you referring to as 20%?

The port/plug for J1772 and Menekes Type 2 and already each larger than the NACS plug very slightly (barely noticeable).

But a Wall/Destination EVSE is AC, not DC. It's not, over all, larger or smaller than a J1772/Menekes Type 2. Aside from the connector.

And the cabinets for CCS vs Superchargers are dependent upon the site, so vary wildly upon where the guts are stored. Tesla tends to cabinet most of their guts away from the charging points whereas some CCS make all-in-one monoliths.

Have people lost their minds around here? A massive problem, LOL! I've been off-roading for decades and I don't see the problem. A lot of my off-roading was in the PNW which typically involves a lot of crashing through alder saplings and driving over branches that love to "thwack" the side of your rig.

Nobody is going to put Gorilla Tape to hold the charge port cover closed simply because they're going off-road, because that would be inconvenient and there is not a shred of information that hints it will be needed. It's the over-active imagination of people who have never designed a real product before.

Armchair quarterbacking seems to have become really popular in the last decade.
There are some people who take their fenders off before they go wheelin', because they KNOW they'll get ripped off if they don't. It's a real thing.

Yes, Thailand was second in the world in terms of pickups/capita (after the United States).

The plug on an Aus home charger is not a lot bigger than NACS. As far as I can tell. Barely any bigger really.

I just found time to check some info. In 2012 the US was second to Thailand on a per capita basis, apparently. Gosh! Learn something new every day.

Nothing newer than that seemed to come up, Google really isn't what it once was.

You have it backwards.

If a greater share of the Thai population owns and drives a pickup than the share of the US population which does, then the Thais have greater per capita pickup truck ownership. I should have saved the URL of the article covering this for you. It was, however, a 2012 piece. I couldn't find anything newer on the topic. I doubt it has been static in the last decade.

These are the same problems any charge door would have.

So no, I'm not concerned. And if I am, I'll add a silicone cover to the port itself.

And Teslas already have thermal management at the charging port, so it can defrost itself.

That’s cool. They should do this to the cameras as well. I heard they were adding a camera washer to the one on the front of the CT. Might just be a rumor. Good idea though.

Home charger ≠ DC fast charging

-Crissa
Sure. But the size of CCS is still a bit over-sold in my opinion. Home CCS is small. When I finally used a fast charger CCS it was obviously bigger, but nowhere near the behemoth I'd been lead to expect. Is US CCS different?
