Everyone says the non-FS AWD qualifies for the $7,500 tax credit, but it's not listed on the IRS's website as an eligible vehicle. Also, I'm confused about why the FS AWD doesn't qualify. The invoice price is $79,500, including $20,000 in accessories. Does anyone have any insights on this?

In addition, the vehicle's manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) can't exceed:

  • $80,000 for vans, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks
  • $55,000 for other vehicles
MSRP is the retail price of the automobile suggested by the manufacturer, including manufacturer installed options, accessories and trim but excluding destination fees. It isn't necessarily the price you pay.

The Foundation Series - AWD or Beast - does appear to qualify for a $7,500 Federal tax credit....

...if you're purchasing it for business use. https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/commercial-clean-vehicle-credit

This is the workaround that companies use to provide a $7,500 EV credit on personal leases as the vehicle purchaser/owner is the leasing company which is a commercial entity.

Fir tye conduner Clean Vehicle Credit the MSRP needs to be below $80k as shipped from factory. Software features like FSD do not count toward that price.
For vehicles purchased after Dec 31, 2023, the cells/modules cannot contain Chinese components. For vehicles purchased after Dec 31, 2024, they cannot contain Chinese minerals.
This may be why Cybertruck is listed for 2023 purchases, but not after that.
