I was recently off roading a bit (slow driving over uneven ground with rock/dirt desert terrain). There was a point I turned the tires fully to the left move a few feet forward, then tried to turn fully to the right. As I crept forward the tires were still fully turned left. I hit the break and checked my steering wheel was fully right. About 2 seconds later the tires turned right. So there was definitely a delay and the first I’ve ever experienced. But didn’t have to reset and everything worked fine the rest of the day.

Maybe the steering rack was struggling to push back against a force because of some sort of angle or rough terrain?

That was my thought as well. This was the first time I had taken it off road in a rocky setting. I also have the larger winter tire package.

Steering is disabled when the vehicle is off: until there is weight in the seat and the brake is depressed, the wheel will not activate the rack.

It’s possible that the steering will shut down if the seatbelt is unbuckled and the seat does not sense weight, but that should shut down everything.

Maybe the seat sensor is broken?
