The idea is that after dinner you 'collapse' the kitchen under the sleeping deck and you go inside for the rest of the night. The In-out of the bed area while the kitchen is setup is impractical, you would have to step over a table!. But the biggest problem is where to store backpacks and stuff during the night? Move them in the cabin? That's a lot of moving stuff around. I would prefer the bed decking area to be used only for storage, maybe the kitchen should be in the frunk? This way you can access your stuff while in the tent and the potentially smelly kitchen stuff will be away from your sleeping area. Frunk kitchen is also more bear-safe, IMHO.

Agreed, the Rivian Chunnel on the side makes much more sense for this.

Personally, I'd prefer camp kitchen to be detached from the truck entirely. I often end up wanting to use my truck without breaking camp.

I kind of like the Cybertruck kitchen set up. I honestly don't really understand when people are going to be getting in and out of bed while camping so I don't see much harm in the kitchen blocking access to the tent. The only time I could see that as a problem is if I am cooking and my wife is still in bed and hasn't gotten out yet, but that's the only reason I can think of. As for storage, it should be easy to load up the bed of the Cybertruck with camping stuff, then when you finish setting up at a camp site, you might have 1-2 bags to put in the cabin. Alternatively, there might even be storage in the tent since the kitchen and prep table wouldn't take up all that space.

As for smelly kitchen stuff, the stovetop shouldn't be messy and a quick wipe down of the table should clean that off. a pot or pan that was used for cooking should be kept away from the campsite anyway.

Yes that's a really good idea. We'll have to see how the frunk ends up opening. Would work really well if it opens like the lightning with a front gate, maybe not as good if its just the hood that lifts up like a traditional frunk.

Here's my take.

I think the photo was more of a suggestion of the kinds of possibilities, but when it comes to practical pop-up camping, here's what I'd like to see:

1. The lift gate needs to be powered. Other trucks have this option, and it makes a HUGE difference if you plan to climb into the Vault / Bed area to sleep.

2. The stove system is nice, but I'd rather save the space for either storage, or a larger sleeping area. I normally pack a small Coleman stove and most camp sites have tables.

3. It should be considered a replacement for a TENT, not try to be a camper. The bed isn't that big, even when something pops up.

4. I felt the same way when I saw the expensive over-engineered CyberLandr popup that has tons of pre-orders. With such a small area, who needs a shower... and a toilet? Both are readily available at most campsites and you don't have the hassle of maintaining them. Ditto for running water. Voice controlled faucet. YES. We all need that when we're roughing it. :)

Your comment reminds me of how I used to tent camp out of my Subaru wagon. The CT is going to kick butt on that, though. Especially if we get a mid-gate. Imagine your living space in the back having an incredible stereo system with climate controls. Plus, you have an incredible amount of stored energy for all the electrical appliances. Think refrigerator freezer and instead of Coleman gas stove you could cook with an electric Skillet. Make margaritas, no problemo! I'm sorry folks but no way do I need the Cyberlander. I'll take my CT with 2 tents. One for the kitchen and dinning, and a little outhouse for the Mrs. We will sleep with our heads under the back glass roof, enjoying the stars.
Here's a nice electric skillet: https://www.amazon.com/Presto-16-in...ywords=electric+skillet&qid=1627004282&sr=8-3

If the midgate drops flat, that would be HUGE for sleeping in comfort under the stars... It doesn't seem likely because they've never mentioned it could and Musk said it would be pretty much what they showed with only a few improvements. But then again, they didn't show 4 wheel steering at the launch event either.

I’ve been camping for 50 yrs and see this pop up design to be very impracticable. I primarily use my site as a base camp. Set up the tent, canopy, kitchen, ( and now shower/toilet) and head out. Visiting local attractions or almost always food (brewery) shopping . Having a pop up, make camp, break camp, pop down arrangement every time I head out is cumbersome and a pain in the a$$.
Small trailers (teardrops) are cheaper and just are as well equiped. They are also light, easy to tow and should not reduce the cybertruck’s range. That is where my money is going. I’m anxious to see how many ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ this contraption gets from seasoned campers.

One of the reasons I would never go with an RV without a towed car, breaking camp is too much wasted time and sucks when it is raining....
Let Cybertruck tow your house (trailer) and use that as your car

induction ftw
No. No. NO! ? oh ftw is for the win? Still no. The glass breaks. The kettle needs to be ferrous....
@Sirfun is right. Electric skillet, crock pot etc is the way to go. No range and pots needed. Much cheaper and more useful... pots are a hydrocarbon fuel/ fire technology.
Electric allows for appliances like coffee maker, airfryer , ice machine, microwave, griddle...
And lest u say those appliances take up alot of room I say so does a range and pots.

Induction cookware can be used with other fuels, i.e., put over a fire. Dedicated electric devices are limited.

Somebody just needs to come out with a hitch hook up. Stove on top of cooler. Lower down four legs with wheels. Two options electric or propane.
