I am pretty sure the ban rumor for sharing links to that video is just that, a rumor. I read last night its not true.

Regardless of whether they're banning from events people who merely shared the video on social media, one thing is more certain:

Whatever employee took or shared this video (if that's what happened), or whatever employee knowingly allowed someone to take and share this video, is likely to be having a bad last few days.

A non-descript video like this, in some random supercharger parking lot, has a lower chance of Tesla's infosec deducing which truck is filmed, and which driver had the vehicle.

But this video, which showed the UI (a no-no in itself), even showed the parts of the UI that described the exact time of day, as well as a map of the exact supercharger being used!

Back to the veracity of the claims regarding Tesla banning people who share unsavory/prohibited info:

Do folks know if this historical take in the article is true:

"This might seem like an overreaction, however, as of early 2023, Tesla has started banning individuals who share leaked Tesla information from attending the company’s events.
Famous Tesla personalities, Whole Mars Catalog and Galileo Russel were even barred from attending Tesla’s Investor Day event held on March 1st. Not only that, Tesla informed them that they would not be able to attend the event right at the entrance gate."

I remember MDR seemed to have at first been invited, then un-invited, to a Tesla event. Wasn't familiar with the stories around the two influenzas named above.

It doesn't say who was banned this time.

But this one showed someone getting actual access to the inside of the truck, and filmed the screen.

That's why it triggered a conversation on range! Unlike any other video or set of photos.

I don’t think Tesla has a department to do this kind of censorship. Why would they waste energy to “punish” free publicity?

you’d think wrong

in part because you’re confusing two different things

obviously they encourage certain degrees of “marketing” similar to this, such as using open transports, AND allowing these drivers to zoom around, let people take pictures, etc.

but those drivers and efforts have their boundaries, including not allowing any photos of the interior and the UI.

accidents happen, folks snap an oblong UI shot from outside the vehicle while the truck is in a drive-through, etc.

But that’s all separate and apart from a driver - like in this case - either

(1) leaving the truck unlocked and unattended while the truck is powered on and charging, or

(2) straight up allowing someone to take this video

and Tesla absolutely has a department to deal with these sorts of things, and I named it above

To discourage people from breaking NDA. The engineer that let the guy have this sort of access would be in big trouble, hitting those who promoted it with penalties also discourages the behavior.
