I got the email that a light bar was available for me in September. I had mine installed in December expecting to have to do The final connections. I went through the control screens and found where I could enable it and to my surprise everything was already hooked up. It doesn’t hurt to try.

There are companies in California that make custom light bars covers, including Lightbarcovers.com and Light Bar Covers Unlimited. Alternatively, you could keep a roll of black tape in the truck. Apply tape over the light bar on public roads, remove the tape off-road, reapply when back on pavement..
thanks, I’ll check those out when I get mine installed. It seems such an unfinished design from Tesla, a bit weird.

It's normal for auxiliary lights to either come with opaque covers (often with brand logos) or to be detachable with quick-disconnect fittings. So yeah, seems like Tesla didn't fully think this one through.

Most light bars are mounted on brackets, which probably makes them easier to cover. Might be trickier with a light bar that is glued on, since the cover can't wrap around. Have not seen the Light Bar Covers Unlimited product, but apparently you glue small magnets onto the light bar, and then they provide a custom cover with magnets of the opposite polarity. Might work on the CT.

I have it if you need it.
Thanks, but someone posted an online version in this thread. Looks like Tesla wasn't supposed to remove the blackout tape or connect the harness, but they did that with my truck. They were supposed to solder instead. I will talk to service next week.

What does your main screen show when you go into the outlets and mods subsection? Turn on the switch and you we’ll see the light bar installed visually and you’ll get a message that it’s successfully installed once you turn the outlet on
Nothing. I have tried a few times and even followed the instructions to go into drive, park, and exit. I think they did not solder the wires. In the instructions they were supposed to solder and leave the harness unclipped for the customer.

Just to add to the chorus here, I had mine installed this week. They will basically do the bulk of the work, minus removing the black tape covering the light and making the final connection.

On the final connection -- the wiring harness in the b pillar -- you literally need to snap the power connector together but you should hear two clicks. If you don't hear a click you don't have the connector seated fully (even though it will look connected.)

The procedure is really simple -- needs a socket set and a flat head screw driver and about 5 mins.

I am in Canada, got my Cyberbeast in November, mine is supposed to be included but they told me will be notified when available so mobile service can come install it. Did you get notified? How did you end up getting yours?
I have tried looking it up online and on the app but there is nothing there leading to ordering/getting mine.

I had an existing service scheduled for a different issue and I got informed leading up to the appointment. I think it was just happenstance.

Which service center did yours? The one I went to won't solder mine.

In Texas, the Dallas service center installed the whole thing with no black tape to remove and no electrical connections to make. It was ready to go when I picked up the truck.

Does the truck have to be in off road mode for the light to work? The only way to turn it on is from the screen under lighting?

Once installed the light can be turned on or off from either the primary outlets and mods vehicle view or by scrolling down for the more integrated controls. (Off/Ditch/etc) And a brightness control.

So I guess you can turn it on and not be in off road mode then?

will Tesla release a non permanent version? would like to ability to take it off if i don't want it on there.
Generally speaking, I hate automotive parts that are affixed to the vehicle through the use of a peel and stick tape be it 3M or whatever brand. There are usually three main problems with this kind of installation all can be mitigated to a certain extent but not all three can be mitigated simultaneously. they are Adhesion don't last very long, or adhesion is too strong making it imposible to remove becoming part of the base material therefore if the windshield is lost so, too is the light bar. and the third is clean up after removal can be a mess or one can even damage the substrate while scraping and scouring. I know there are less labor intensive ways and safer to the substrate but more dangerous to the person they are by chemical means.
I to would like to remove it for whatever reason if I get the urge to because someone would like to see what it looks like without the light. I should be able to do so without too much fuss. and put it back on without a service appointment.
for instance, 2 bolts one on each side would be ideal. or 2 latches like they did with the crossbars. but smaller. Even just a tungue or tab that slips in behind the exoskeleton stainless on each side of the windshield like a hidden spring-loaded latch like on a seatbelt just need to make it not as easy to unclip as a seatbelt perhaps a tool that is inserted to release and reload the spring in one motion.

speaking of 3M check out this repurposed crate from when the company was known as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing co. in my garage probably from the 1930s or 40s
