The 99c/month seems like a no-brainer, since the fee can likely be recouped in just 1 charge session. I'm not sure I understand the business model, though? I guess the 99c is just a "nuisance fee" to keep out dead/inactive accounts.

More than likely aimed at getting new customers to grow the network

Very sad. Can't wait for all of the Tesla chargers to be full of slow as hell charging cars taking up all the V3 and V4 chargers... I understand this helps Tesla's mission. It does not do good things for Tesla cars and owners however. This will be a circus and it will be infuriating. All these 100KW cars will be clogging up each and every stall. Its great news for all the competition though!

I would be ok if he opened only the 72k and 150kw to other EVs and leave the V3/v4 to only Tesla's. What do you guys think?

I just did my first road trip SF to LA and got to LA with just one stop at kettleman in & out in MYP, arrived with 9%. After waiting and finishing our lunch was back to 85% took about 30 mins. Remote a/c was a lifesaver in 104F weather.

It‘s aggressive! It’s marketshare! It is so cheap that you’d be crazy to pass it up - er everytime non-members do makes them crazy. Its perfect way to compete on networking advantageous benefits, challenging principles and breakdown convictions. Importantly, its recurring revenue stream!

Recurring membership revenue self-finances more SC v4 - free to you! That’s the best way to get more SC and let other people pay for them not Tesla aka you

Yes. You are correct. Shitty competion N/G chargers are going to populate Tesla charging stations. Its FCFS so Teslas wait on NISSAN Leafs - oh Joy.
But its enabling FED subsidized money for Tesla network buildout, its introducing non-Tesla EV’s to another dimension and critically its at the exact moment Tesla are ramping production.
There might become a Tesla tier after. As you suggest Tiered access for Tesla-only can do wonders for changing a sad situation happy.

This could possibly change my ability to rent a Polestar for a trip next month. I gave up on the idea because the route I need (Rochester NY airport to Sayre PA) only has very shitty non-SC chargers. The best of all is only 16k, and most are under 8k. Ridiculous. But if I can stop at an SC and get 50k or more, it's doable.

What's the price in the EU? Like $13?

I assume the fee is to cover network costs and overhead, and right now not alot of sites are available for non-Teslas.

Leafs can't use CCS.

Meh, since I plan to buy a Tesla I like exclusive access, but the charger near my house is never more than 50% occupied, and that was only once. As long as they have lots of chargers, I don't really care.
