Fortunately or unfortunately, I was one of the ones who had the Lightbar installed early on my Cyberbeast.

Not sure how it happened, but something hit my windshield while I was parked and it made two 4-feet cracks on my windshield.

So I now have a repair bill for replacing the windshield, and the lightbar to boot which Tesla confirmed cannot be re-used. Hopefully their newer version will alleviate this problem, but for now, this sucks.

Crazy that the largest windshield on a production vehicle is less expensive than the lightbar you can rarely use. I don't think I have (practically) gotten to use mine once.

They might not want to reuse the light bar, but that sounds nuts. Maybe try the string saw decal removal technique to remove it from the windshield before you drop off it off for service?

We discovered the cost at $2500 some months ago when another member had his light bar fixed (because of Tesla’s habit of giving you the full cost of repairs until they determine that something is actually under warranty).

Two points:

(1) the situation that you’re in is precisely why the park has been added to the parts catalog and has a cost associated with it and should not be used by anyone (imo) as a basis for the belief that it’s going to be widely available at some point. This is precisely what I said before it’s broken, it’s not under warranty and you need a new one. That means you’re gonna pay.

(2) somethings being lost in translation here. It’s not reusable? That’s insane! If that was the case me, @Redfire and everyone else who had their light bar become detached would’ve had to get a new one simply because it was separated from the windshield. That’s just not accurate. If yours wasn’t damaged by whatever happened to the windshield (or damaged when they removed it) then it’s a simple matter of epoxying that thing back on the new glass. Anything else is crazy talk! They’re not disposable you need to find out exactly why your lightbar needs to be replaced if you don’t already know because mere separation from your windshield ain’t it!

A Tsportline Cybertruck lightbar is $600, can be quickly detached when you are not offroad (making it legal everywhere), and does not affect windshield replacement. Add $50 if you want storage brackets for the bed. Add $100 for a double row of lights.

I should clarify, mine also came loose recently and I had made an appoint for them to reglue the light bar. As far as I know, it's on there pretty tightly, just against a cracked windshield now. Since no one else works on these things besides Tesla themselves, I don't really know how to advise them on what they could do vs what they will do.

if that’s the case then I think you’re seeing exactly what I said. The $2500 authorization is just in case they need to replace it and it’s not under warranty. I don’t anticipate that they will need to replace it unless it is in fact broken otherwise they will detach it from your broken windshield and put it back on and that line item of $2500 will be deleted from your bill once the work is complete.

I guess since $2500 I should have my free one for the Cyberbeast installed. Normally I would tackle the wiring install but my medical challenges make jumping all over the truck more challenging. Be nice to find a tech who would like to moonlight for a wiring install.

Any ideas? I am in north San Diego.

Why wouldn’t it be under warranty? Tesla installs it.
