Great thread!! The AWD CT is very close to exactly what I would request from a blank slate and then some. Power/acceleration exceeds my needs. Towing is range limited but I only tow local. The by wire 4 wheel steering may be the feature I will love most. The VTH capability will be utilized. Have listed my gripes in other threads so zipper it here?.

Now it's time to drill down and determine what exactly is just typical Tesla marketing, and what's the real product underneath. Preview: a real-world product that present real world compromises. Nothing comes for free.
You are so right. 2024 will be filled with so much honest and transparent information from actual owners in the now correctly named Cybertruck Owners Club.

Going to be a ride! pun intended

Firstly, thanks for making this thread @Coolbreeze704 . I see some people are already trying to stir the pot but we are gonna stay positive!

I can't wait for Tesla to start selling the non-foundation series.

I've learned a lot lurking here for the past year or so (and finally creating account just before launch date), so thank you all. As for me and the truck, I've got simple needs:
  • Be electric (electricity is ~$.08/kWh where I live).
  • Keep my dog safe and comfortable, whether in rain / snow / shine while I run errands.
  • Be able to take a couple loads of yard waste and random crap to the dump every couple of weeks.
  • Be able to pick up lumber and sacks of yard stuff / sakrete occasionally.
  • Be impervious to the low branches of the ornamental trees that were planted too close to my driveway 20 years ago.
  • Be able to carry a couple kayaks to nearby waters.
It didn't even dawn on me that the CT could/would act as a backup battery to the house until they announced it. That is a HUGE bonus to me, as I was actively shopping house backup systems. I ended up ordering the beast because, with the $4K credit for installing the gateway and whatnot, it reached my "oh, what the hell" threshold. Plus, I really like that 3-headed beast logo...

I don't tow, and we have another mid-size hybrid SUV for long road trips. We'll see what happens, but my plan is for the CT to be my daily around-town-running-errands-with-the-dog driver. I'm fully aware the CT is overkill for my needs, but I ain't getting any younger and this thing will be silly fun.
If I can get the home powershare set up, I am considering switching to a time of use plan for my utility.

its only .06c/kwh when offpeak!. Then I could use the CT to offset the peak time home usage during the winter when the sun isnt shining.

I am really looking forward to seeing how the all season tires do on a nice warm day at high altitude. I bet the range will be awesome! Either way, compared to my MYP it should be equal to or greater than.

My goal rn is to wait for the tax credit to come back. Cash in on that sweet sweet federal POS credit and then get the $5000 colorado credit too! 79,990 - 7500 - 5000 = 67490. A far cry from the 100k of the foundation series.

Maybe I'll get lucky and rates will come down.

My last trade in value was around 8k for the civic, so pop another 8k off that. 67490 - 8000 = 59490!!

I'd say 59490 aint too shabby.

I have never owned, or wanted to own, a pickup truck.

I have driven mid-sized, three-row, SUV's for the last 16 years and a Model X that didn't last long (the minivan vibe was too strong). Now drive a used Model S Plaid but with three teenage boys that seem to grow by the hour my ideal vehicle would be a Tesla version of the Rivian R1S - it doesn't exist (yet).

Did I mention falling for the early Countach and DeLorean's with their wedgy, angular designs? I just did.

I don't like the Mercedes EQEgg's of various lengths and sizes. Porsche/VW/Audi seem to struggle mightily with software and decrepit (at least here in NJ) charging infrastructure. Had an order for a Polestar 3, that I canceled after Tesla's fall price cuts and the lengthy delays Polestar has had with...software. Still have an order for a Volvo EX90 and Rivian R1S but...

...the siren song of the Cybertruck is strong. I placed my order in December 2019, so still have a ways to go. Not sure about driving a pickup truck, but this isn't really a pickup truck. It goes to show if you revert to first principles it is possible to design something so compelling it changes how people think about the very thing you're selling - it's the Model S moment of trucks and SUV's as far as I can reckon - and it's going to be very special. Why do I need a long hood? Just get rid of it. Brilliant!

So count me, who has never driven a truck, in the camp of people now waiting for his truck. I'm attracted to the style/design/aesthetic as well as the largest interior cabin of any Tesla this side of the Semi. Owning a Plaid, I know that there is very little use for a 1,020hp sedan on public roads so can probably get by with a meager AWD Cybertruck, please don't tell the Cyberbeast.

I do, however, wish that like the 3/Y, S/X that there was a CyberSUV twin to the Cybertruck - even if it's just replacing the tonneau with another sheet of glass and opening the space between the second row and bed to turn it into a large, enclosed, trunk. Maybe this will come in 2-3 years, but until then I'll wait for my ticket to get punched and place my order for my first-ever truck that's not a truck.

This small town where I hail from. Is like 1200 people. I just want to roll up in get out in a green man outfit. That's what I will love about the truck. Fun. Lots of it.

Ordered the Foundation, but I want to see the truck in every corner of America and Canada in non Foundation. That way it proves the concept. I hope it happens fast.

Things seem pretty rosy to me right now. I'm building a Garage to hold 2 BEV's. And my plans are at the 95 yard-line for being approved. With a little luck I'll have it built and wired up by end of Summer. And since I'm about 200k on the reservation list, the timing for the Garage and CT AWD seem to be matching up well.

I get that there is legitimate reason to be unhappy about the price and the reduced basic range of the Tri. But I absolutely love this car. I think it's incredibly cool and just perfect for my family. If I had an unlimited budget it would still be the car I want.

Im happy to post to this thread. I too am a FSD Beta Tester and need to remind myself just how far Tesla has come.
I keep telling myself that the Cybertruck will definitely be worth the wait. Plus I have some cyberbeer just waiting to christen the truck lol.
I drank one of the Cyberbeers the night I got the FS invite and ordered. Plan to drink the other on delivery day :)

Some time along time ago we used to speak of this thing called the Tesla grin. Or smile. The moment one gets in and drives away on delivery day. We aren't too long for those grins to start appearing here soon. I think the mood will change quick.

I am anxiously waiting for my number to come up and get my CT. There is so much to like about it, hard to know where to start. It is a truck that is bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside and can handle like a sports car. Outstanding!

Having said that, there is always room for improvement. When I was in 4H our motto was "To the make the best better," and (sorry), but to me this thread is like the sound of one hand clapping.

Thanks for this super positive thread… becuase
I dance around the room when I think of the Cybertruck arriving!!!

I am totally Dent-Phobic! With every vehicle we have… its gotta be a condition!

I strategically park away from everyone but close enough to avoid being where it’s easy to break-in and not be seen… that is a real challenge with a truck full of tools and gear.

Enter the CYBERTRUCK!!!!!
Just about the exact vehicle I would build if I could!!! If Dad was still alive we would/could have! He would have loved this thing!!!!

Lets list the ways of awesomeness!
- Looks like something out of my teenage SciFi dreams!
- the Vault! A working truck owner dreads a work truck break-in! The vault locks, works, sheds water, and with Sentry Mode and the ability to text me when ridiculousness happens, it’s perfect!
- real power and space in the bed?!?! I am gonna buy a welder and start a metal fab business with this thing! Just because it’s like it was made for it! The bed is big enough for sheets of everything!
-the rear doors open 90 degrees!!! I can put in my tool rollers without getting a hernia trying to get past the inside door handle. And can slide multiple 90ā€ TV’s inside. In fact endless building material can fit inside as the door opens wide enough.
- Ultra-dent-resistant!!!! That is totally my dream!!!!! I’ll say it again!
DENT RESISTANT!!!!!
DENT RESISTANT!!!!!
DENT RESISTANT!!!!!
Ever go to wax your car and find a new door ding, golf/baseball dent, road rock chunk taken out of your hood, fender, roof?!? Not with this guy!
-wait did you say ā€œno paint, not rock chipsā€!? You gotta be kidding me!!! That is awesome!!!
Forget the finger prints. You can wipe those off and not worry about scratching paint… which means
- automatic car washes won’t scratch it up!!!! So whether I go MONTH’s without washing or buy a daily wash program from the local auto-wash, the brushes or hand washing won’t jack up the paint… ā€˜Cause there isn’t any paint to scratch or swirl!!! Genius!!!

Now the stuff inside.
It’s all Tesla goodness.
- Best driver’s assist out there by a 100 miles beta or not!
- Best charging network…. ā€˜Cause it’s there and works!
- Great OTA updates!
-Low vehicle maintenance… cars used to be a pain in the butt to maintain. Folks at Autozone were our buddies. Nope… no more engine work!
- Works and sounds and drives like our other Tesla vehicles… So none of that brain retraining each time I get in the vehicle for work. And no exhaust!
- Did I mention… DENT RESISTANT!!!!! Wait. That’s outside… but still!!!
- I have some family that leaves near the ocean and get flooded often…. Where I live flash floods happen often! This vehicle can take it!!! Pressurized battery compartment!!!
- drive-by-wire and 4 wheel steering?!?! Stuff only fake vehicles in movies have. Who puts that in a vehicle that is less than $200k and is a production vehicle?
- Great sounds system!
- Great air filtration
- A quiet truck?!?! Yep! A quiet truck with performance! Yes sir you betcha!!!
- A quiet ride inside too! Nice.
- for road trip work I can fit a ton in it!!! And could lay a sleeping mat on the back floor and my wife can fit totally stretched out. If we need to ever again drive / charge all night to get to the next job in time (had to do it in the X) this will be the dream vehicle.
- Speaking of on that trip, an unhelpful porter stood and watched a luggage cart barrel into the X and put a deductible-sucking dent in the side next to the charge port. Won’t happen with a Cybertruck because…..
It’s DENT RESISTANT!!!!!
-Seems designed for 5 person skii trips…. taking an expensive vehicle to a ski slope won’t be endless stress about parking neighbors skii/board dings, snowy road driving gymnastics, or even pre/post slope dressing: frunk bench/ tailgate boot donning, 90 def door boot donning, tough shell So no slope and dents, preheated cabin, toss everything in the vault after, could attach an army’s worth of gear to the roof racks (the slant may help and fit luggage in the vault!

Sorry if I am getting obnoxious!!! I gotta stop listing… there are just sooooo many great things we are looking forward to about this vehicle!

Oh!!! Nearly forgot to talk about the accessories!!!! Teslas are nice, the Up Invincibles look fantastic! But being Dent resistant I won’t hesitate (l-track/roof rack in mind) to make my own!!! I’ll for sure post about and offer to make accessories for anyone who asks… It’s like this vehicle was designed for it!!! Not everyone is include to make their own gear. So please DM me with ideas. Something fun owners forums are great for! I seriously can’t wait to make stuff with and for the Cybertruck!!!

All of us who don’t have it yet are going to spend hard earned money on this vehicle! Let everyone else point out their gripes… that way we won’t be surprised… We might as well Positive the heck out of it before we get it, so we are absolutely in love with it when it arrives in our garages, driveways, boat docks, and skii lifts!
