thinking about ordering an adaptor for the cybertruck

I have a X-mas trip coming up and wanted to get an adaptor for CCS chargers when I'm on my trip. I see most of the people here are recommending the A2Z adaptor for the truck, however in seeing the news today I'm thinking twice about A2Z adapters.

Make sure you get the one specifically for the Cybertruck. It has a longer piece that plugs into the truck and is needed because of the trim around the charging port. If you buy one with a shorter plug on it, it may not work.

The communication wire routing and insulation are critical design factors. That unit was around two years old. The new Cybertruck versions are UL2252/CSA-C22.2 Certified.

Interesting read. It didn't seem to fully blame the charge unit, but didn't exonerate it either. If memory serves, this charger was one that uses internal batteries to reduce grid demand charges. I'm thinking the references made to battery shorts probably relate to the charger's battery, not the car's.

Right, I think the charger's battery shorted to ground which then created a path from high voltage to ground which arced and traveled through the adapter's ground pin. Normally HV is isolated so there isn't a circuit through the ground line.

Agreed, that makes sense to me. It's a little concerning that they make a few comments about the adapter not being approved...then note that there isn't a standard for them anyway...

Yeah, I don't think it was designed to do that, but it served the purpose anyway. Very lucky.
