Tom Z indicated 'paint is expensive'.. but does that mean 10 million stainless steel cars are released into the market every year ?

Got me thinking about a factory option to wrap... the panels just go through a wrap machine... no waiting for the paint to dry.

Also, they could heat the SS. Energy required would be coming from Solar .. free.

Either option is doable imo, and adds $$ option to Tesla.

Fit and finish issues most likely. Tesla has software and the electric drivetrain down to a science. Itā€™s the reason my Dad would never purchase the 1st year production of any new vehicle.

Think about it. A new workforce, new factory, new production techniques, new vehicle and a SS vehicle has never been attempted for mass production.

Almost 1 year since Lightningā€™s began landing in driveways (8 months with mine), I can give my top-5 insights from the Lightning forums that I believe foretell some shared experiences to come for early CT ownership on this forum.

In rough order of magnitude:

ā€¢ how when it comes to towing, you canā€™t engineer around the laws of physics

ā€¢ how when it comes to tire and wheel selection on a truck, you canā€™t believe the impact of the laws of physics

ā€¢ how when it comes to long-time pickup drivers buying their first BEV because of the CT, they canā€™t believe how temperature, humidity, altitude, and average speed effect mileage

ā€¢ how when it comes to people buying their first truck ever because the CT, they canā€™t believe the size of their truck/garages

ā€¢ how terrible [insert any other manufacturer] is

I am on my 3rd Tesla Y since ordering the Cybertruck. Will probably be on my 5th before it arrives.
