I think it looks great, if it had come out before I got my CT I would be driving it.
Et tu @Pops? Lol— just kidding! But, I am somewhat surprised at the open love for this truck on the forum. I would’ve expected more pitchforks already in response to this heresy!

I honestly just dug into this vehicle it seems pretty awesome. Did anyone consider it before making their CT purchase?
I have both, AWD Cybertruck and Silverado EV Trail Boss extended range base, no super cruise

The main thing I like about the Chevy is the battery, I can do 300miles easy and still have battery left. I've done it multiple times.

Compared to the cybertruck, the space on the inside feels bigger, it feels like a traditional big truck

Ground clearance is 10 inches, which is good but when doing some fast driving on some trails it feels heavy and I have to watch for some dips that the cybertruck clears easily because I run it in high so I get the extra 2.5in and it feels lighter

Software wise it's no match for the Tesla but I really only care about maps and YouTube music.

I don't tow, but we do haul stuff around every week and it works great for our use case

They have a massive battery and good range. But they are a car manufacturer, not a software company. My dad owns an EV Hummer and an EV Porsche. Both great cars, but would not trade for them due to the software alone. Tesla wins, also the charing infrastructure is better, but that will change, I’m not sure if the latest EV chevys are using NACS yet or not. Also personally I think it looks cheesy, it’s too rounded and smooth, it’s trying to looks too EV and too truck at the same time. The lightning did a better job of just looking “truck”, Rivian looks “EV” (actually it looks like Gumby, because of the headlights, and it’s the only reason I’m not driving one). I think the EV Silverado will be a decent truck for those that need one, but overpriced for what you get.
Man those headlights are bad. Otherwise a beautiful and capable vehicle, but I would not buy it for the headlights alone.

Awesome truck as far as hardware, software is awful and I wouldn’t go back to CCS after my lightning. The charging curve on their highest range seemed really good when out of spec reviewed it.
I watched their 2 hour review, granted it was posted over a year ago i believe but the silverado dominated their 500 mile tow with Tesla being last, even tho the lightning didnt to get anything right just distance. Its what made me think wow these are really nice and i can to my 4,000 camper over 200 miles at good speeds none the less.

The Chevy is cool-looking (in upper trims), has neat features and an available big battery. It would be on my cross-shopping list. But there are significant issues. A big battery is great for max range and towing, but poor for everyday driving efficiency, charging times and cost (both for the vehicle and charging). The added weight is an issue (Hummer EV's are not allowed on some roads and bridges in my area). There is the obvious give/take of features between the vehicles.

But most importantly I'd be concerned about battery management and longevity. There was a discussion on here recently about battery life, and Tesla has dramatically less degradation than other brands. No matter what you do, competitors will lose max capacity at a far greater rate over time vs Tesla. GM's battery management is poor. So upon initial purchase you may have significantly more range than a Cybertruck, but in 2-3 years that advantage could be much smaller. I'd honestly be concerned about any other brand of EV, though initial signs for Hyundai/Kia seem positive.

Oh yeah I would reccomend one if your sole purpose and case is towing long distances frequently. Otherwise the cybertruck is great for a commuter or somebody like me that just needs a bed to haul feed/big shit and doesn’t want to mess with a suv or trunk. I’ve driven the sierra and ev and silverado, both great vehicles but I could not do their infotainment. I also use have powershare installed and chevy’s backup switch system is several times mor expensive, and laborous to install.

That drop down rear cabin wall is awesome! If you want more capability off-road and more advanced ADS, go with the CT.
If the mid-gate is so awwesome, how come owners report rarely ever using it, if at all? So many owners report not wanting their cabin open to the open air rain, snow and dust. When you have the mid-gate open the only locked area is the frunk. And it's far from convenient to convert it open or closed.

I suspect I might use it once every couple of years for some kind of edge case.

We have been using FSD on our Tesla vehicles (including our Cybertruck) almost everyday for the last 7 years.

It is kind of hard to go with other EVs without FSD.
This. No FSD=no dice for me any more.
It can be a rolls Royce that does 600 miles, handles like a Ferrari and can tow Godzilla off the set of the latest movie with Kong.
it doesn’t drive itself.

The Silverado EV's WH/m is pretty close to the CT.

I've seen tests that put it around 460-480 at 70mph and low 300s at 50mph. about 30-40 wh/m higher than the CT AWD.
Not in the cold. The Silverado seems to lose more efficiency in the cold, jusdging by cold weather owner reports. And it takes a lot longer to heat up all that thermal mass when the battery starts out cold.

I would use it for:
  • Hauling large items without needing to put the tailgate down.
  • Put a camper on it and get AC when you sleep in the bed
Yes it would be only used around 4 times a year or so for me. But that would still be more than I use the power backup on the CT. I still want to have features even if I rarely use them.

I did. I had a reservation for the top-trim that was as close to a Cybertruck as the Silverado could get - in case Tesla didn’t actually make the Cybertruck. It had some great features but it wasn’t a Tesla: no vertical integration, no infrastructure, no powertrain efficiency, no great batteries, no great software, no FSD, and these things are important in both the short and long run. I knew I wouldn’t be as happy with the Silverado as I’d be with the Cybertruck. I also liked the Rivians and made a reservation for an R2 just in case the Cybertruck turned out to be crap, but it didn’t so I cancelled that reservation last week.

Isn’t there charging very high powered?
Yes, in the XC race from Florida to California the Silverado came in first; because of its range and charging speed at the few chargers that could do 350.

You listed a lot of what YOU like. I want room with towing that’s EV and many other things it looks as tho they do have
When you posted you never said what YOU want so of course you are getting what others value. You asked if anyone had considered the Silverado and the answer is yes, but you also have to pay attention to why the Silverado wasn’t purchased. If those reasons are unimportant to you then you never needed to ask anyone here; go buy one and be happy!
