Silverado EV is a better truck. Cybertruck is a better robot that drives you wherever you want. I have a 3.0 diesel Silverado with a comma 3 for towing long range. Electric trucks are stupid. Until you can pull through to charge like semis do to refuel towing sucks. Add that Cybertruck disables lane centering and FSD if you plug in a trailer and it's a deal breaker for towing. Silverado EV has supercruise and provides lane centering and adaptive cruise including changing lanes while towing!
Nice to hear about comma truck users in the wild! Is the comma build on gm stable or still like a beta? Guessing it has limitations too.

My thoughts on Silverado EV Max Pack.
If you do long distance driving and want to reduce charging stops and time max pack could save 1.5hrs over 1100miles vs CT.
CT 500mile trips won’t make much difference unless towing.

I'm actually the one who got the comma working on any truck. Comma gets all the data and when we got it working well they of course streamlined it to their liking and supported it. It works very well for lane centering. The oem adaptive cruise in combination works great for daily centering and especially towing. Experiment or whatever they calling now will stop for lights and signs but not very reliable. I have kept my 2020 Silverado because Supercruise is good but 3 years and you have to subscribe. Plus comma works everywhere not just certain places. I love my cybertruck but no centering when pulling a trailer puts me back in the stone ages. Add no pull through chargers and I'm forced to keep my diesel.

True, we all love our own brand. if towing was a high priority I'd get a Diesel pickup.
So very true that a diesel is the right tool for the job if you are towing long distances. That said I will never go back to ICE, even if its better for a specific use case. I accept the negatives of electric towing for all the other benefits it includes.

We tow an 8500 lb trailer while we travel from from Florida to Wisconsin for the summer every year. I calculated charging time and likely unhook and rehook to charge. It would add a full day of travel each way and that's being conservative. 12-13 stops to charge. No bueno

How about the Ram 1500 REV that is about to come out. It has almost 700 mile range. It also has a v6 engine that's only job is to generate electricity to charge the battery. Drive is strictly electric motors. It has 92 kw battery and can fast charge.
Speaking of E-REV, how about the new Scout Terra and Traveler, down side the E-REV version drops the towing capacity to half at about 5Klbs

I am guessing we are the 10% they don’t care about.
1k+ mile road trips as fast as we can.
Towing more than 100miles.

Erev sure sounds sweet to me

I really like the Silverado and GMC trucks, but they will largely be be the same vehicle throughout the life since they are not software defined. I have a F150 Lightning and its the same, the only feature that Ford added in the 3 years that I've owned it is a battery percent indicator on the dash. Tesla is always adding cool new features and updates that make the product exciting and fresh.

My brother has one and likes it. His other two are Model S and X. He isn’t married to FSD like I am. I came from a 2500 pickup and his drove like a truck. My Cybertruck drives like an SUV around town and parking lots. It made it worth it to consolidate my Model 3 and my old truck. With the GMC/Silvarado I’d still be driving my regular car as the daily driver. I do wish we had the pass through for longer lumber and camping.

I honestly just dug into this vehicle it seems pretty awesome. Did anyone consider it before making their CT purchase?

I considered it quite seriously. The range, the midgate, and the overall interior size and comfort were very tempting for me. However, I looked at the weight and the software as big no-no's. I don't tow and I rarely haul anything big enough to warrant a midgate being the deciding factor in my choice.

After thinking about it, i came to realize that Tesla is an EV company through and through. They designed everything from the ground-up on the CT to be an EV. I felt like Chevy did a pretty good on their product, but the vertical integration on Tesla's can't be beat.

I pre-ordered the CT week one in 2019 and the wait was getting to be too long for me so I did a bunch of research into the various EV trucks coming out. For a full-sized EV truck, the Chevy was a top choice over the Lightning, but after driving the CT, it was sealed. For my needs and what I would use it for, the CT was simply the better choice.

General Motors has not yet canceled some battery-electric models, 2025, GM lost $1.6 billion for the fourth quarter of 2025 on EVs.

Despite these losses, GM has not canceled the Chevy Silverado EV or GMC Sierra EV.
But should they bail out.
Worse!
Tesla has 30,000 @ $80,000-$100,000 cost for non-Tesla EV charger install.
Means
GM do not have a $3 billion EV charge network.
So
I have a $100 deposited to buy a Chevy Silverado EV
but
I am not going to exercise that pre order.
and
If I were GM I would get out of the EV game.
Why would GM invest in a charging network? Why is that relevant?

I looked at all the others specs before I pulled the trigger on the CT. All of them had the same issues............Small bed that only holds what!? It weights what!!!!? Dayum!! Look, I needed an electric Truck so I got the Cybertruck. Done.

It looks more like a traditional truck so you don't get as much drama directed towards you and does have an extra 100 miles range but it's a much worse ride, pretty bad offroad, no lockers, audio is pretty bad and most of all, their version of FSD is worse than even the entry level Toyota corolla's adaptive cruise control with lane centering. It's also slow as F*. The bed pass through might be nice for the rare few times it would get used, but I'm fine without that, especially since its payload is so low for such a heavy truck. Tacomas can carry more than 1k lbs.

I enjoy FSD too much to want to go back to wasting time paying attention to all the bad drivers on my commutes when I could be getting work done on the way. I also drive 2400 miles to and back every couple weeks which makes the drive extremely stress free and allows me to do it in one go without having to stop to sleep.

GM was forced to invest in EV charging due to their slow payback of the bailouts which they've never fully repaid yet. They have partnered with Ionna and Chargepoint.

Appreciate your assessment and valid points but dang that’s 2400 miles that’s a lot
