Did you try pulling the little red rope with the ball to disconnect it from the opener and use it manually?

Oops, I thought you were referring to your garage door. My bad

Yes I know I’ve used it before. I’m just too lazy to search for a different one….??

Have tried screen reset, complete power off. Searched for any sort of manual release ... nothing. I note online that others have had this problem but no fix listed...they had to take it in. Serial number in 3200 range 2 motor picked up on 032024. Never rolled it completely up and down ... so guess I have partially rolled it only twice. Not stupid enough to stand on it. If you know of a fix or way to at least close all the way...pls help. On way to Texas from Calif and rain expected. Tks.
I fixed it today.
Happen to many people.

Unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

ding! ding! ding!

We have a winner.

Clearly the tonneau was refusing to move because it wanted a new calibration, although I cannot imagine why this was not indicated anywhere (not even the Service Menu).

To calibrate:
  • Truck Icon -> "Software" menu
  • Touch and hold "Cybertruck" logo for ~5 seconds (it will flash), then release
  • Enter the password "service" and accept the prompt to enter Service Mode
  • Touch "closures" then "tonneau"
  • Touch "calibrate" and follow the prompts

To finish, return to the main Service Menu and hold "Exit Service Mode".
it worked like a charm went up and down got it closed thank you. Much appreciated.

Something else that’s happening is the switch on the outside of the truck that controls the tonneau cover and truck gate is failing at a pretty high rate. While the gate button definitely is the first to go, the cover open and close buttons usually fail not too long after or at least become intermittent.

Yep, the tonneau/tailgate external buttons seems to suffer from water intrusion and a high failure rate. We expect these to be replaced when an improvement is available.

In my case, the cover will travel to within a few inches of closure before binding and backing up. This is after multiple calibration attempts and an adjustment by Tesla Service. Oddly, I've determined that it only happens when I open the cover completely; if I open it 99% of the way, it will close just fine. ?‍♂

Perhaps it just needs to get settled? I'll take it back to Service if it persists.

Mine also is binding up occasionally. If I pull lightly on it while closing I can get it to shut completely. Waiting to hear what the fix was at Tesla for some of you. No date yet for my service appt.

There's a procedure in the Service Manual:

https://service.tesla.com/docs/Cybe...UID-4F5DC10F-2BA0-4DCE-9D2B-59FDDB54728B.html

but it's very complex. Most of the steps start with "open tonneau cover fully", so it's unclear what to do when it won't move.

I have the same issue, the cover does not even attempt to move when commanded, and oddly there are no alerts recorded in Service Mode. My next thought is to power off and disconnect the 48v battery as a "reset", but I've not attempted this yet. You might not want to try this away from a Service Center hahahaha.

I have a service appointment, but not for a couple of weeks. I think your simplest option is tape.
GOT THE CT BACK FROM SERVICE ON 042624. They reported all they did was "recalibrated" the cover. I would of course have tried that myself ... but no alert appeared on any of my screens. The manual says that such an alert is necessary for an owner to initiate a recalibration. Oh well ... it is now fixed ... along with one of those $1350.00 spare tires strapped to the CT bed. THAT is the only downside to my CT so far ... the only off-roadable 4WD American made pickup that does NOT come with a spare tire nicely tucked away someplace. Hopefully, that will be another improvement for the 2030 Tesla CyberSUV 8 passenger 4 motor with brake by wire and an HONEST 1000/500 regular and towing range...with that range between 5 minute supercharges made possible by magical new battery recipes still in 2024 labs. OH YEA ... the 2030 CyberSUV will also debut the new AIRLESS SPARELESS OnOff-roadables by Michelin. Dreaming on !!!

Yep mine is officially stuck.... I'm 4 hours into ownership and less than 70 miles driven ?

Wish I could recalibrate it myself! But the dang message won't pop up and there's nowhere to do it.

You go into the service menu to do the calibration. There are a few posts on this site to talk about it.

Thanks so much for your tip. I did not see it before taking it into service ... they had to "install" the spare tire I ordered. The tech advised all he had to do was "recalibrate" as you mentioned. I will be sure to try your above procedure should it ever happen again..
