Unfortunately the calibration didn't cooperate for too long. If I only partially opened the tonneau then tried to close it I was still getting into a jam. I dropped it off in Nashville this morning for a 7:45am appt to address the tonneau and a few other small issues. Unfortunately it is just sitting in the parking lot and they updated my completion date for a few days from now. I'm pretty sure they never looked at anything and they are just backed up. Wish they would have just told me to wake up at 4am on Friday and bring it up. I love Tesla but sometimes I just wonder about service.

I highly recommend the "calibrate" option in the Service menu.
[/QUOTE

He recalibrated it and it's all good.
Turned on service mode and there was an option to calibrate the cover.
I ran the tonneau in service mode, followed your simple instructions, then followed the prompts in service mode. It calibrated the right motor and left motor perfectly.
OK, I went to the service menu and there is no option to calibrate the toneau cover. Did they remove that option in a recent update?

My FSD just updated to 12.5.5.2 last night but I doubt that had anything to do with it.

My cover was not closing for the last 8-inches for the past several days but then did just start closing mysteriously about and hour ago after I went for a drive and just fixed itself somehow. There was nothing in the tracks blocking anything.

But if it happens again, I would still like to know what happened to this "cover calibration option," because I can't find it.

Sorry for the confusion, there is a "Service Menu" and a "Service Mode".

Go to the "Software" menu and hold down the "Cybertruck" logo until it pulses (~5 sec), and then type "service" as the password. Then go here:

I highly recommend the "calibrate" option in the Service menu. I've had to do this several times, but I've been habitually opening/closing the tonneau every time I drive, and the issue is occurring less frequently. Perhaps is just needs a break-in period?
Interesting that repeating the calibration helped yours.

About half the time, mine requires multiple attempts to close. It hangs up about halfway and then reverses. If I hit the close button enough times, it'll eventually succeed.

It's been this way since delivery; the nearest service center to me is ~400 miles away, so this hasn't been worth a visit. I recalibrated once (after discovering the procedure via this forum) and it didn't seem to help, but maybe I need to run the procedure again.

Thanks for the clarification! I had no idea there was a procedure like that to access a "service menu!" I'll give it a try, but I do have a service appointment scheduled on the 14th and I fortunatley have a service center close by me..... unlike @KF3K 🫣.

My problem keeps repeated about 70% of the time I'd say. It closes to about 2" away from the tail gate, then reverses to about 8" away and stops. I am able to finally get it to close by light touching the close button until it closes but then it reverses again, and I have to rince and repeat that between 3 to 6 times until it finally decides to stay closed.

Side note: how in the heck do you quote someone and then not type with the same gray quote box?

Ok, so I did it. And this is the problem in the pic below. I pressed "Calibrate Tonneau" multiple times and it doesn't seem to do anything. I even held it down for like 15 seconds and I still don't know what it actually does. It doesn't do anything visually.

Now how do I exit this "service mode?!" I seem to be stuck here. I'll try googling it....

EDIT: I found out how to Exit Service Mode. I'm going to send this pic and a video to Tesla through my service appointment in my app.

Mine would work in service calibration mode, but not normally.
Stopped 6 inches from closed and reversed unless you gently tugged on right side.
Service Center replaced entire slat assembly with Rev D version.
