Yes there’s a fix if you bump the truck into service mode and recalibrate. Easy and Tesla should tell us to do this before scheduling service appointments for a potentially 5min fix. There are other post on this in the forum And YouTube videos showing how to fix it.
This is a temp fix at best. I did this over and over and over, and it kept happening. Only real fix is to take it into service.

Closed the tonneau and after completely closing it reopens about 6 inches or so. If I reopen it and do it again it does the same thing. If I do a manual calibration it will close completely and stay closed but if I remotely close it then it reopens. Tracks are clean, not out of line and this is intermittent. Any ideas?
I have had this happen to me many times. I took it to the SC for service and of course they could not replicate the problem. Manual recalibration did not work for me. However, after several attempts and fails of opening and closing the vault, a calibration button appeared on the touch screen. That seems to fix the issue for several weeks before it shows it's face again.

Also, I found out in order to close it when it is doing that is just keep tapping the close button and inch your way to full closure.

I took a video of the problem if I have to take it back to the SC for this issue:

The issue that was spelled out on another thread here is that an adjustment needs to be made to either raise or lower one side of the tonneau up under the aero flap. If you go to the service center and tell them there are numerous reports of this, I’m confident it’s in their system somewhere. I had the same “can’t get it to do it” reaction, but they ultimately said they read up on it, made an adjustment, and it’s been flawless since that visit 4 months ago.

Yes, this is what they did for me, but the problem persists. The cover appears to be straight, it just chickens-out at the last second lol.

The calibration option will appear after repeated failures, but you can recalibrate on-demand from the service menu.

Yeah, on ours the right side binds up and auto reverses before full closure and I can see the difference in the slat gaps. If I tug gently with tailgate down it extends fully.

Mine is like this on the left side. SC tried 3 times, still not working with recalibrate for more than a day or two. No binding by aero flap, not sure where to adjust.

I have done all of the above. It's annoying but not enough to take it in for service. When enough minor issues pile up I'll take it in and get the recalls taken care of. For now the easiest workaround is to ease it in slowly with the "quick presses on the close button" approach.
Mine started doing it again after calibration and I took it to service 9/18. They just cleaned the tracks and lubricated them with silicone lubricant and it is working fine since then. I thought I had checked the tracks and hadn’t hauled anything that would get in them so thought it might be a software problem. If it happens again, I’ll clean them extra well and lube them myself and hopefully save the trip to the SC.
