It's not exactly news that Jeff Dahn now belongs to Tesla. It's also not exactly news that his specialty is in finding electrolyte additives that prevent irreversible reactions between lithium ions and the SEI. It is thus not news that we can expect batteries which will do more C's roundtrip energy before a specific level of degradation is reached,

'Million Mile Battery" is marketing BS. But wer'e stuck with it now and will never get information that is meaningful.

I agree, it’s all marketing hype. Same with “30X“ stainless steel that will be used in the CT.

Well we at least know what "30X" means as Musk specifically and clearly used the phrase "300 series stainless" in reference to it in the recent Leno video. I think this is what most of us had surmised but it's now confirmed.

I think “30“ refers to 300 series stainless steel and the “X” refers to Space X‘s proprietary SS alloy that was developed in house.

I like your video. Seems logical to me. Check out my avator....yeah...I'd like to see your video on your off-road adventure. Last summer, I did the Trans Labrador Highway.

Re: grades of stainless steel. 301 or 302 would be logical choice for CT except Tesla is unique among automakers in doing it's own metallurgy. No surprise if 30X is the proprietary alloy from Space X - the more you buy, the cheaper it gets till the magic X ingredient runs out.

Also SpaceX is not using one type of 300 series. Just the other day they brought on some 304L stainless to bocca chica that had not been observed previously. My theory is that they haven't settled on the specific 300 series stainless yet for the cybertruck so the 'X' is just a place saver until they decide.
Doesn't mean they could come up with their own recipe as well. Musk has said that given the time since stainless development he doesn't see why with today's tech we shouldn't be able to come up with something new. That said, I bet they stick with a current blend fr Cybertruck as performance and tooling already exist.

I’d bet on them using whatever the starship uses. Quantity discounts.
