Can confirm the vault was closed and other steps were taken to try to get the best possible range in a real world towing situation.

JerryRigEverything did a tow test.
From 100-2% aka ALL of the energy.
He got 90 miles of range. which with a typical 80% use of pack is 72 miles of range towing
Less than the Rivian(100miles), and less then F150 lightning(130 miles)...............
Major bummer

I'm not so sure, I went back and watched his F-150 lightning towing the same load... He said 100 miles is 90% on the lightning, but that was at 72F. if you extrapolate, that would make 80% range equal 88 miles. And this test was at 37F according to his dashboard when they unhooked the trailer. Apples to oranges.

The rivian test was a better comparison, and got 100 miles from 100% to 0% in cold temps. Which would yield 80 miles of range in your 80% charge window

Yea, they are all in the ballpark under different conditions, just a real bummer than the CT is in third place for towing after Rivian and ...........Ford

My point is, from a 72F towing test with the F-150, you can't say that cybertruck at 37F came in third. There just isn't enough data. I lose like 30% range in that kind of a temp drop in my model Y.

Or more probably, they want to simplify the line and get a bunch of AWDs on the streets first. Similar to the way that the delivered the Model 3 and Model Y.
They weren’t having issues with batteries at that point, they were a known quantity. Recall when the 4680 Y rolled out, everyone delaying their order to try and get one before it was common knowledge they were worse in every every way except maybe cost to Tesla, and chassis regiditiy?!
Lest you forget, Tesla famously rolls out constant updates to improve things. Makes too much sense to me that maybe the early beasts are just cherry picked exceptional cells and they are using up supply of crappy 4680’s with trucks that won’t demand such a high C rate. Explains the crappy charging speed and 100:1 of awd to beast models.

The rivian test was done under the same conditions and it beat the cybertruck, I was hoping the CT would CRUSH all the other EV trucks after the 4 year wait, not lose to them :(

You forgot the most important one: chick magnet.

But I understand, wifey must be in the forum too!
Ah, no. Too old to chase babes. They all would be younger than my Daughter and that is just wrong! Besides, I got the 5 seat (2 row) version because I have two GSD, one 81 lbs and 26 inches. He needs that extra room behind the seat and "dog mode". He does not take kindly to strangers, even babes.

I got the X Plaid because it was green.
You and my brother. I think he wants to dump his Viper for a "green" Plaid. Me, I wouldn't know what to do with all that power. I just royally blew a Porsche off who tried to pass me on the freeway on ramp. I think he was shocked. I could hear his engine making lots of noise behind me while I was mashed into my seat in peace and quiet. And, no, I did not have it in drag strip mode, just sport.

Didn't you know, people generally tow 11,000 lbs at least a few times per week, and always in the cold. ?
Let us go with the worst, worst, worst, worst.....case scenario to freak people out.

I just want to pull a 16ft Airstream Basecamp (3500#) 13K per year at 63 mph, not in the cold (western US). Charge wherever, whenever, last charge of the day would be at a RV campground (free)

A Turo host for a Lightning let me tow my Airstream Basecamp 16X and do a small range test. Note: the Lightning did not have a tonneau cover. Lightning: 2.4 miles/kWh (EPA 320mi on 131kW battery usable). 140 miles traveled with trailer, full FW tank and waste tank, ? total weight (Basecamp 16X has 3500# GVWR), flat highway, 75 degree temp, little wind, 63mph. Results: 1.6 mi/kWh, 625Wh/mi, 210 miles (0-100%), around 150 miles (10-80%)

If the CT cannot duplicate or better these results, I will look elsewhere. Will be test driving a Rivian R1T next week. Still not ruling out the Lightning, but charging speed is an issue, but the fact that the Lightning can lane center (hands on wheel) while towing a trailer is a plus. The Rivian cannot. The Rivian charges at 220kW max vs 150 for the Lightning. Currently the CT is limited to 250kW on V3 changers, 350 on V4. Problem is no V4's.

The CT is not looking good to me and this after waiting 4 years.
